My buddy lodged an arrow in the right left flank while I managed to get an arrow close to the heart.
Each time I went stalking, with friends, it was strictly a one shot kill policy. Aside from the competetive elemnt we had going on between us, it also ensured the stag didn't suffer and had a quick, clean death. Judging from your story, it seems that rifles are the way to go when hunting.
I never want to go hunting, and besides I can't own a gun in my country. And I don't like killing animals. Plus I don't like to eat deer, rabbit or other game.

I was 15 at them time, and kind of weak (50 pound bow lulz I pull 120 right now) my friends dad suggested we use bows because he was afraid we might accidentally discharge the gun, scaring away the prey.

yeah its pretty hard to get a clean kill with a bow
one time i was out hunting in my ghillie suit was in the prone position for about 8 hours i hadn't moved an inch i didn't see one buck the whole time just one squirrel that pissed on me he didn't even know i was there and a doe that almost walked on top of me after that i pretty much got sick of the smell of doe in heat and squirrel urine and went home

no kidding, especially when you're 15 with a 50 pound bow.
3 years later I can probably down a 4 point buck with 1 arrow.
I prefer to use guns though, but it is really risky, because if you miss a critical shot you just lost your venison. Which is why I prefer to use a bow in most occasions.

Just as Sergeant Reznov says in COD5, ''Sniping your enemy is like hunting any other animal. Fire at the wrong moment, and your chance is forever lost.''
