No.
If they are your best friend, meaning better than all the other ones, than how can there be more than one?

I would say yes.
I don't consider more than one of my friends to be my best friend, but I think it is possible to have friends you like equally, and thus have best friends rather than just one.

Not saying it's common, though.

No.

Do I need a reason? Fine. Because if you say he/she is your best friend, therefore he/she is better than all the rest of your friends, and you can't have 2 that are better than all, cause then who would be better out of them?

Would you deny that two things can be equally good while still better than all the rest?

One out of two do not need to better than the other. They can be equally bad or good.

Just my opinion of course, but discussing is fun.

Yes

You can have some friends that are all equal on the scale of...amazingness.

Yes, 2 things may be equal, but doesn't that make the term 'best' nothing then? If you have 2 'best' things, what's the point of best? You would need to use 'better' as in,

"I have 2 better friends"

"They are my best friends" is a perfectly sensible sentence.

They'd be more important to you than the rest of your friends, thus being your best ones.

I wouldn't apply the term better to a friend. "Oh yeah, she's the best friend I have, much better than the rest of my friends." That sentence seems wrong to me. (Note: English is not my native language. If that sentence would be perfectly normal to say in an English speaking country, then ... well then I'm confused, but okay.)
When you say "best" friend, I see it as a way of labeling that you're closer to that one, not that they are better than the rest. You're just more attached to him/her. And I don't see why you can't be equally attached to two different people (though probably not in the exact same ways).

I see your point(s), but I see 'best' and 'better' to mean pretty much the same thing, in the dictionary, you can see

Best The person who is most outstanding or excellent; someone who tops all others

Better Superior to another; more

So, therefore you technically saying they are better than your other friends.

And I do think its normal to say one friend is better than the other, just not very friendly to your other friends. But I have heard people say it.

(I've never analyzed this so deep...)

No.

Much as Xrunner stated in the first reply, if they are indeed your 'best' friend, it would indicate that they are 'better' then all of the others.

I qualify people I know as family, friends, or acquaintances. All of my 'friends' are what could be considered 'best'. Otherwise, they're just people I know.

Yes.

Because of exactly what Zophy said. Two people being equally... Close, or awesome.

Randomly, if you're friends names were Jane, Bob, Ben and Jake you could say "Jane is my best friend except for Bob, Ben and Jake".

Yes.

I think some of your friends have different qualities so one might be the most fun to be with, but another might help you with all your hard situations so they are "best" in different ways.

Yes,

I like two of my friends equally as much - I can't just say - You can't be my best friend and you can't either because I like you both just as much.

I would just say - I've got two best friends as I like them just as much as the other above other friends.

If you like 2 of your friends equally much why don't just call them good friends or 'better' friends though better would be kinda retarded in my language.

GamesArmor stated the definition of best:

the person who is most outstanding or excellent; someone who tops all others

therefore no
