So theres been a recent Pirate Bay trial, and piracy is such an issue these days.

I don't see a problem with piracy, really. First of all, pirated games are usually not the full game. I think it is a way for people to test out the game before buying it. If you really look into it, most pirates go out and buy the game after pirating a downgraded version. People pirate music constantly and I really don't see the difference.

All in all, pirating is okay with me. It saves people money if they don't like the game so they can spend it on something that will make them happy.

I'm inclined to disagree.

Your post however, does hit on a different issue. Companies claim that every song or game pirated results in lost revenue - however, there is a percentage of the people who pirate digital content who would never have bought the product in the first place if they couldn't have gotten access to it illegally.

It doesn't matter. The taking that something that isn't yours without paying for it is stealing. It doesn't matter whether the taking results in a loss of revenue. If you sneak into amusement parks without a ticket, or sneak into a movie theatre without paying, is that okay? You might not have gone to see the movie without doing that, and you didn't physicaally take something from the park or theatre, but it's still wrong.

well its all about the money. if some big group isn't gettin' the money they were promised, they're gonna get pissed. oh and cocko3 your an idiot. piracy and stealing are just synonyms of one another, they are one and the same. oh and if you call someone a moron one more time i'm gonna make a huge thread saying how much of an idiot you r and i don't care if i get banned for it.

I believe that piracy isn't good neither for the economy nor for the quality of the songs.

Yep, Piracy is a crime.

And you say ; "They already have enough money!" - They spend wheel barrow fulls of money making the movie, then some person buys it legaly and then puts it on the internet!

The company which spent money on making the film, lost money which the could of made by people illegaly putting things on the Internet.

I think this as stealing money.
This may not be money they have physically, but what they would of had.

If a Movie costs $15.00 and some one puts it on the inter for "free" and an avrg of 5 people download it a week the company that made the movie has just lost $75 a week!
With 52 weeks in a year (I think) they have lost $3900.
In 10 years they would of lost $39 000 - you may think thats not alot of money for 10 years, but it's still a profit, and this is an estimation of 5 people a week, it could be a big hit movie and 15 people could download it per week, and the movie may cost $20.00!

So as you can see - the company which made it loses money (stealing) when people download it.

I'm not vouching for piracy, but small company's could be helped by piracy. Like the distribution and increased awareness of their products.

I disagree. Like I said earlier, piracy is kind of like a beta test. It allows people to try out the game. If they like it, they can buy it. If they don't like it, then they can spend their money on something that they will like or that they actually need. I'm not saying piracy saves our economy, but I don't think it really hurts it.

I think that Piracy is wrong. Stealing is stealing. No matter what it is, and besides it is agenst the law. Why risk it? Besides not only is it agenst the law it is also unethical. If someone owns something, and it is rightfully theirs you should respect that. Example: you would not steal something from your neighbor call it yours, and then sell it, would you? Then why would you steal a song developed by a musician and pirate it off to other people? Just because you can does not mean that you should.
Remember: A man's (or womenâs) integrate is measured when he/she does the right thing EVEN when no one is looking. Piracy is the same thing. People figure that they will not get caught, and because of this they do it anyway.

it is stealing

Technically it isn't, its something about potential lost sales that makes it illegal. Although its hard to say that for all people who pirate because some actually do it to test the game(or see the movie/listen to music) then go out and buy it.
