Wait a sec...what about that theory that when a butterfly flaps it's wings in America, say, then there'll be a hurricane in Japan? It's like, the effect expands over a larger area...the dominoes effect? Idno...forgot the name of it O.o
But the same could be said for the vibrations in the air, right? So if the tree fell, the vibrations could carry and eventually be added to the multitude of other sounds in the world, and eventually someone would hear it, but they won't know that it was from a tree. Right? So technically, someone would hear the sound, they just wouldn't know that it was from a tree. Lol :/
Theoretical it does make a sound. I like the theory with the butterfly effect. The vibration in the air starts a chain reaction. So it doesn't matter if someone heard it or not. Depends on the definition of the word ''sound''.
Going by the butterfly effect it seems that even with a negative interpretation it still makes a sound - even if noone is around, where there are trees there are surely creatures capable of interpreting air vibrations as a sound within sufficiently large distance, though after such a distance it may become too quiet for them to perceive it. Still - it reaches them
