So, you all know medieval war, right?
What was your favourite kind of medieval unit?

Like knights on horses, swordsmen, archers, etc.

realistically, i'd say horsemen. fast, deadly, hard to kill (if they have strong armour)

but...

what wouldn't be better than a rampaging, fire breathing, crushing-everything-in-its-path dragon? LOL "send out the unit of dragons!"

How about a highlander. Even Caesar was afraid of them. They'd come down out of the mountains and pwn everyone then run back up again. This sort of reminds me of Deadliest Warrior.

The Korean Hwacha. I mean, having that kind of a weapon in medieval times? That's just badass.

Francisca Throwers

Only thing the Roman Legions where really afraid of was the axe throwers of Gaul!

You can throw the fancisca in such a way that it bounces off the ground, and flail's out to severly ingure somebody. If it gets stuck in your sheild, your sheilds useless. You can throw it almost 120 yds, and use it in hand to hand combat.

Except the soldier armed with maces, ( a weapon which was so dangerous and brutal they forbid his use), samurais are an other very strong Medieval combat unit.

A Welsh longbowman. They were the elite of the 'English' army whilst we were still fighting the French (and the Scots). The deadliness of the weapon more than made up for the huge amounts of strength and training required to use it. It won hundreds of battles.

Mounted horse back archers: Mongols or Huns

Only drawback is it's hard to shoot while moving...
