I've seen this a little too often lately, and I'm wondering why people seem to think its so devastatingly important for Obama to choose a church to go to, when in reality he won't be able to go that often and only matters to the Christian population.
I mean, he's responsible for leading over 300,000,000 people, and even if he doesn't make each direct choice, taking several hours out of his schedule every Sunday is not exactly the best choice for him.
Oh, and before people start complaining that he's taken a lot of time off already and he could have spent that at Church, he's taken time off because he has an extremely stressful position, and time off is supposed to be time off, not time pleasing the public.

I find church quiet and relaxing. It doesn't really matter where he goes, as long as he likes it.

Stupid Christians. They feel that they have to control him. Give the man a break. He is trying to fix the terrible economy that Bush made. If he doesn't want to go to church then that is fine with me.

you have a point, it would be good to go to a church, but some people would view it as favortism, and that denomination could try and get benefits (money, big church in DC, etc). and i dont really see when he would go

It's just a symbolic thing. And it's not necessarily favoritism. It would also be a good break every week. I'm not religious and I find church to be a relaxing place to go. As long as it isn't one of those where you stand up and the priest screams.

Stupid Christians

I don't agree with most Christians, but that's pretty much just flaming there...

It's just a symbolic thing.

I can see where that might matter to some people, as it makes people think that he's following the religion, but aren't there plenty of people Christian yet still not go to church? As for it being relaxing, I guess it depends on which church he chooses, but the one or two Christian churches I've been in weren't that relaxing. It may just have been the preacher, but I got a fairly negative experience when I went once.

Depends on which type of course. The ones that are just priests talking about the bible in a quiet manner are the good ones.

I think it's important for people because they want to find ways in which they can relate to their president. It doesn't just matter to the christian population either - most religious groups view those who are non-religious as bad. Just look at the Catholic church's response to muslim death-threats against Salman Rushdie.

I mean, he's responsible for leading over 300,000,000 people, and even if he doesn't make each direct choice, taking several hours out of his schedule every Sunday is not exactly the best choice for him.

I'm not sure you're qualified to say what's best for him. I think that's a decision best left up to the individual, and maybe he gets something out of it.

I don't see why it's important for a president to be religious at all. If they can do the job, it shouldn't matter what their religious beliefs are.

I would rather he doesnt go to church but instead maybe try to fix the economy, bring and end to the war in Iraq, fight terrorism, formulate a plan for a possible Pakistan invasion to do just that, fix health care, and assassinate Rush Limbaugh and create a good cover up (maybe heart attack) :P just joking TSL3.
Not to mention the security risks of going to a large church.

Good ole GW did it, no problem. Not that great if you consider everyone who comes is searched and recorded.

According to most studies, Americans distrust Atheists more than any other group (including terrorists). So he has to pick a church before the American people turn on him.

I actually find that pretty funny. Wonder what would happen if I ever move to Colorado....

I recommend everyone to quit their religion, it`s a waste of money and time.

A) How is it a waste of money?

B) It's personal choice, not recommendation.
