why cant we all get along, all this fighting, it is kind of getting, well, to the point where everyone disagrees with everyone else. any comments why we cant get along?
Well, this is the World Events, Politics, Religion, Etc. forum. Arguments are inevitable in this forum. People will always have different opinions then others.
I try my best to get along with most beliefs, but it really depends on the perspective of the other person. Some people think Christians are completely ridiculous for not having accepted atheism, while some people think all atheists are evil and should be avoided at all costs. Most of the people I have discussions with disagree with almost everything I believe in. The trick is not to get offended or say anything offensive to the person. Then eventually, the differences can only enhance both your perspectives.
Well.. it's quite possible that we could.. but this isn't a forum about 'getting along'.
The whole idea of having a forum is so that people can discuss, debate, and disagree about issues in such a way that fosters further discussion, and different avenues of thought that a person may not have gone down if they had only sat and contemplated the issue alone.
As for the complaint about people over-reacting:
Generally here's how a lot of debates go.
One person says one thing Another person says another thing They argue, and one person comes out on top in the argument The person who is losing gets angry because they realize they are the inferior in the debate, and lash out.
Fortunately, there are people with some degree of maturity & take it in stride, but given the level of age, maturity, and level of intelligence of many people on internet forums in general, we arrive at the predictable result of insults & mudslinging.
Why can't we get along? To many christians, atheists, conservatives and liberals. That's why we can't get along. Get rid of all of those and we can get along.

That's a little harsh... If you get rid of them, there wouldn't be anyone left. I try not to start fights, If I see one forming, I'll try to back down, or attempt to make a compromise. It would be better if we all wouldn't get offended at every little thing, or lash out at everyone.

To OP: We can't get along perfectly if we do not agree with each others beliefs. If we do not agree with others beliefs, we argue. Obviously.

You mean in this forum? Technically we're debating...getting along with each other, and debating with each other are two different things.

If everyone had a job, and didn't suffer from envy, then we could all get along. Unfortunately people are of different religions, starving to death, and greedy. All of which start arguments, fights, wars.
