Well, I was listening to a song by system of a down, tittled BOOM!

And it got me thinking, Why are we spening so much money on stupid things, tanks, booms, guns......

4000 hungry children leave the world ever minute, and we are spending billons of chinese dollars on our booms, to go blow people up.

can man not live without death and destruction?

Need I point to world war two, The civil war, the fighting in afganastain, killing your own neiborgh.

But That is what we focus on, we say we made the world better, but people are dieing in our back yards, and thats not enough.

We have to go and kill more people using huge bombs, then soend more money cleaning it up.

What do you guys think?

Bombs, guns, etc, however, protect our country so we don't become those starving kids in Africa.

Np. Food and wealth stop us from becoming those starving kids in Africa. One of the reasons many of those kids in Africa are starving is due to the fact too many people have bombs and guns.

No people Africa that are fighting are greedy and have no moral code. We have done what we can to stop the fighting and help help in Africa by selling the Governments weapons for control and giving food to the people. But it simple doesn't work.

Countries spend tons of money on weapons for lots of reasons. To try to prevent other countries from attacking them, to attack other countries they feel threatened by or that they don't like, to make themselves look powerful...etc. The fact is that until everyone in the world not just every country but every individual realizes that we are all human, that everyone of us thinks, feels, breaths, and bleeds just the same as any other human being, then there will be people starving to death somewhere while people waste vauluable resources trying to kill each other. Not to mention greed and a general unwillingness to share (Ah sharing basic pre-school etiquette).

I never new system of a down had a political message in it. The only songs I heard from them were BYOB and Chop Suey from Rock Band 2. I was under the impression that they were a type of screamo band....

Any way Humans are a species that is hellbent on destroying itself.
World peace sounds like a good idea but is nothing more than a fantasy. The reason we don't destroy our weapons is maybe out of paranoia and fear that if we can't defend our selves, that would make us easy targets to be conquered. Even if every nation brought their guns and missiles to a UN convention and burned them, that wouldn't solve the problem. The problem is that man is intolerant, selfish, and very spiteful to his neighbors.

As LadyTurleToes said, we all never really mature. Inside all of us is a selfish brat who we all hate. Essentially the world is like a playground. You have the bullies(Nations with a lot of military force.), the rebel kids(Nations with political unrest) and the little nerds who get picked on.( the rest of the countries that aren't third world or have any problems.)

Weapons are only a part of the problem, many like fighting and they could kill people even with rocks or their fists.

Think about how much economic stimulation there is in giving food to hungry foriegners and then compare that to paying soldiers to decimate cities and then when that's done paying private contracters to rebuild it all. Meanwhile using the countries natural resources for yourself. There's your answer.

Yeah...and seeing how half those governments are corrupt, its really the people that are getting screwed. Its not just a one-off lets give them a little bit of food and hope their government, which just went bankrupt paying for those weapons, doesn't use those weapons to suppress the people. Instead of just sending aid to random places now and again, send things that can help boost agriculture and make places self-sufficient, instead of forcing them to rely on aid that may or may not be there the next day

Songs can make you think sometimes.

Here's the music video, if you're interested. It's a peace demonstration.

I personally think we should all just stop fighting, but it is human nature to be jealous of one another, or get greedy.
This is why we can never stop fighting, and that makes me sad that people just don't see that... :'(

GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!!!!

That's a pretty epic claim, that all Africans have no moral code. That may be true of the corrupt rulers, but the vast majority of Africans have much more of a moral code than most selfish, individualist Westerners do.

Nobody in the U.S. is dying from hunger. If they are, well they probably have some sort of eating disorder.

No. No. You miss understand I mean the ones are fighting have little to no moral( like the warlords and middle age soldiers) I didn't not mean the one caught in the cross fire or not fighting they most likely have some morals.

Well you have to realize that SOAD released this song way back in 2003, when the war was just starting. Some of these statistics may not be as bad or may be worse now.
