Today North Korea sent a message to the US, in the form of seven ballistic missiles. Obviously, they didn't hit anything, but it is still going to increase tension between the UN and North Korea.
What I'm wondering though, is why in the world they would launch missiles that they know aren't going to get close to the US. Also, North Korea isn't exactly the largest country, and if the US was to go to war with them it would be over very quickly. North Korea wouldn't be able to match the size of the army, and our own nuclear weapons could wipe them off the map if we chose to use them.
How do you feel about the situation? Will the US once again be police of the world, or will we for once make the UN deal with this on their own? Is Kim Jong Il just stupid, or is there a reason he spends millions of dollars to develop missiles, then sends them shooting into the ocean?
I do doubt their ability to actually launch a nuke.
Well, they have already launched nukes in quite a number of tests. However, if you are talking about ICBM's, I am not sure if they even have them. I have only heard them launching medium or short ranged missiles.
North Korea still has many crime syndicate connectiions, so them having an ICBM isn't impossible, but attacking us with them is stupid, considering what's left of us and the UN will destroy their country.
Having them doesn't mean that we'll use them. America is trying to get people to like us again, and nuking a country isn't going to help.
i hope the not using nukes is motivated in a better way than the wish to become more popular. a good reason would be the prevention of a nuclear holocaust or simply to avoid the massive destruction a nuke would cause
Wow just because we have more nukes then other countries does not mean were gonna go throw nukes wherever we want to.
I am just saying that if a country decided to attack the US with a nuke, the US could fight back with nukes of it's own. I am not saying that your country will simply throw nukes everywhere.
we aren't under the control of GW we aren't gonna do whatever the d*mn hell we please like we did in Iraq, at least Obama is going to try to get the UN to talk some sense into NK.
However, I think that wanting to be more popular is going to be a big deciding factor. We don't want to ruin the world by blowing NK up, but when did the US start really caring about the environment? Sure, lately there's been a green movement, but in other countries they've always been evironmentally conscious. I think that won't be as big a deciding factor for our friends in DC as it should be.
