I can't believe no one has said anything about Bambi's mother dying.
Can't remember how I felt when I was a kid, but I don't really think of that scene as majorly sad any more... It's kind if just... "Huh... Nooo. :< Kay." for me, if that makes sense.

It does have a reputation for being quite sad, though.
