Satriani is. . .mediocre. He sucks in comparison to a lot of other musicians - Jeff Beck is a trillion times better than Satriani at instrumentals and guitar-playing, for example.
I'd say either Clapton, Carlos Santana or Jimi Hendrix are the best.

Every guitarist from Dragonforce is up there.However I have to say Jimi Hendrix because his songs are better and his guitar style is more of a soothing sound.

I almost never make an uninformed statement. I've listened to a lot of Satriani's music - he's not bad, but in perspective, he's extremely far from the best.
I think YOU need to listen to music from other great guitarists. I'm a music freak, and trust me, Satriani is mediocre. Ironically, Kirk Hammett is far better than he is, and Satriani taught him. >.>

I agree. There are a lot more guitar players better than him.
Jimi Hendrix has that nice psychedelic style that is so cool. I really like Carlos Santana too because of his smooth style. I like Angus Young a lot too, because he is pretty good in the studio, but his live performance is outstanding.
