Well what sort? I mean like 1st person point of view, or 3rd person point of view in writing. I'm thinking of writing a story, but I can't decide what point of view I should use.
.I found 1st person to only be superior in emotion when there's only one person in the story and your main focus is emotion rather than plot - 3rd person is just more ve3rsatile imo.
2nd person is someone else telling the story. I think the Sherlock Holmes books are 2nd person, because I remember Watson telling the story, not Holmes.
Point of view should not be decided upon through personal preference alone.
What kind of story do you want to write? Do you want to focus on personal emotions and slowly opening the plot along with the character, or do you want to open up the plot to the reader before/after you open up the character? Do you want to hide any emotions within the main character or use them to build the story? Shall you create mystery within the plot line, or the main character's personal thoughts?
Though many stories can be written from multiple points of views, the best are the ones that match a desired effect that the writer tries to create.
I usually prefer third person since it's a bit less awkward for me. But at the same time, it can generally end up as a better read if you use first person, since you can describe what kind of emotions & whatnot your character is going through. I've found myself using first person lately.
Sorry to ask another question, but how do you prevent the weird symbols when you copy-paste from something like Word? Do you do Microsoft word, then wordpad?
