I am a looking for a good book to read over the summer. I am a 16 year old boy so please no girly or children books. I prefer fictional books, but I can keep my mind open to new ideas. I don't care if it is a long book. If you want to share a good book you read please comment.
Have you tried reading the Tripod Trilogy by John Christopher, and The Sword of Spirits also by John Christopher? If you enjoy Sci-Fi they're really good books.
I just read a book called "The Road" its by Cormac McCarthy. Its a very well written post apocalyptic book about a man and his son on their quest for survival in a burned wasteland that once was the world.
I don't read too often, but when I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down.
All religion books are good if you want to know psychological and sociological things about our lives, but are very boring, i don't think that are books for reading during your holiday.
The knife of Never Letting Go. That book has so many plots it's very hard to explain, but it all comes together into one large plot basically, it's a great book, the series is actually called Chaos Walking, the second book is the Ask and Answer, I haven't read it yet.
I'm also looking for something to read. But not a fiction book, a psychology one, that deals with universal human feelings. Dostoevsky would be a logical choice but I'm not in the mood for reading 500+ pages so I'll go for short "done in 2-3 days" blitz books. I'm tired of big books.
The Divine Comedy. An epic poem (I believe villainelle or terza rima?) about hell. The Longfellow translation is the one I've read, and it's a great read. One of the grandest pieces of literature ever written.
