i don`t know if any of you have heard this, but they are planning to join Canada, the u.s. and Mexico together!that would be disastrous!
there would be so many Mexicans working for such low prices,every1 in canada and the u.s. would lose their jobs! what does every1 else think?

i think joining here is meant more like in joining to become one country. not to be a geographic unit

That would not be beneficial for any of the countries involved. Everything would have to be changed, and I mean everything. From the economy, to military, to the Government. We would have to change how we do elections because all three countries do them differently. Currency would have to be adjusted and we would be forced to agree on what to use. Military spending would be a huge one. Canadian leaders would not approve of the huge budget that the U.S. has. There's a million other reasons, but those are what I thought of first.

I hope that was sarcasm. If not....

currency is not a problem. you simply apply a new currency and establish an exchange rate.
that how it worked in the euopean union.

the other changes would be difficult but such a union has not to take all soverignity from each state.
the benefits would be that you have no trade limits anymore and therefore you have a bigger market with easy access for companies.

but mexico is the biggest problem here. they are just to underdevelopped to be an equal partner to the us and canada.

You have a point, but the problem is Mexico. It will be a hell of a time adjusting their currency rate to match ours, without cheating any of the countries involved. A merge between the U.S. and Canada would work out ok, but like you said, Mexico would be a big problem.

o. It will be a hell of a time adjusting their currency rate to match ours, without cheating any of the countries involved.

the exchange rate for a new currency involving all three countries would be easy to find. you would just say new currency exchanges one to one for canada and us(or something else) and one to five for mexico.

the problem is, that the buying power of their money is so low, that the would use the open boarder to come to the us in great numbers. you have to adjust the level of a country first.

at least this is how th european union does it. when you apply you have to meet certain criteria that ensure economic stability and than you can join.

I don't see this happening in the next 1,000 years or so.
