It almost seems like there is some amazing guitarist in every decade:

ex: 60's and 70's= Jimi hendrix
80's= Slash
90's= Tom morello

Who is that one guitarist that you just said holy (insert "s" word here)?
Is it still Tom morello even though he left rage against the machine?

I vote for gates (avenged sevenfold's lead guitarist) this is a cover of one of his solos =)

Well, actually, the list should be

60s: Jimi Hendrix
70s: Angus Young (during the 70s he was the best, in my opinion)
80s: EVH
90s: John Frusciante (RHCP)
00s: Still John Frusciante

I don't think Tom Morello or Jimi Hendrix is very impressive.
Good, but nothing that just blew my freakin MIND.

I don't like going by era.
But my top five would most likely be

1. Joe Satriani
2. Bob Dylan
3. Peter Frampton.
4. Herman Li
5. Slash

HONORABLE MENTION:
Most Country Guitarists.
These guys are actually very impressive, and I think they deserve some more recognition then they get, ignore the vocals listen to the guitars.

LoL. He's horrible. The only reason why he sounds so good is because DragonForce speeds up their songs in the studio.

ACtually...they don't.
Guitar Magazine states that is actually how fast they go.
And I've seen them live on a trip to Georgia.
They seriously go that friggin fast.
I will admit all the songs sound the same which is terrible.
But when I saw them live it seriously blew my mind.

I would have to say Dan Donegan, guitarist of Disturbed. I saw them live and he nailed the solos in every song.
