Well,I dont belive in God or stuff,but...heavens shouldnt have any bad things but(people belive) it's gates are made of gold!Crontroversy in heavens!if you know any other controversy,please post.
There's a lot of people saying streets of gold are stupid because gold bends easy and things like that. No One really knows what heaven is like. People say the streets are made of gold just because gold is a "recious metal". It's just said to demonstrate that Heaven is such a grand place, but no one really knows exactly what it's like for sure.
We're really just joking around, messing with the metaphor. Of course it's not really made of gold, and we see the symbolism, but logically it doesn't make much sense.

Well . . .If you read Revelation 21, Heaven is filled with precious stones. The roads are paved with pure gold. The twelve foundations are made of jasper, sapphire, agate, emerald, onyx, carnelian, chrysolite, beryl, topaz, chrysoprase, jacinth, and amethyst. And yes, there is luxury because the Christians get to praise God forever.

If I remember right that was a metaphor speaking out against pharisees but I'm not sure..anyway there probably all metaphorical, as much of revelations is. But I'm sure it'l still be nice.
well,with all the discussion here I can make a theory:
the religious people usually donates their stuff to others usually lives a humild(well im not sure if humild is a english word but if it isnt i wanted to mean that they life a simple life) life and when they die,they can live with lots of things made of gold(witch sinbolise that they were very good when they were at earth).Also that every good act in earth could mean one more gold coin at heaven.
The purpose of having a heaven is having a place where you are always happy and you have the things you wanted, which either you did not had them enough or you did not have them at all. So yes there is luxury in the heavens. For example in the Muslim heaven there are rivers of wine and harems of virgins.
