I think piercing are one thing, most women probably have at least an ear-ring in each ear, and some people ahve all kinds of piercings (nose, brow etc.) but I don't like it when people have horn inserts beneath their scalp or forked tongues are taking it a bit too far and they look kinda dumb. Tattoos tend to look dumb when you get old. You start off with Marilyn Monroe and enf up with Jimmy Saville.
I wouldn't mind getting one small tattoo. But I read a few of the modifications on the link that ligaboy posted and I felt like throwing up, like eye tattoos? That's nasty.

And in general, I think modifications are kinda neat. Not so much the "correct the nose, correct the breasts, suck the fat out" things. The actual decorations can look really awesome, but it's definitely not the same things that look good on everyone. And not everyone will even look good with any sort of modification.
I don't think I'll get anything further done than what I've already managed myself, though if I were to, it'd probably be a small tattoo or branding.

Ouch! I had my friend pierce my ears with an earring they put in right after piercing your ear. Although, there was only one, so she had to immediately take it out and put in a regular earring. That hurt more than the actual piercing.

Professionally done piercings are just kinda "stab - replace with earring thing", aren't they?
I managed to find a spot in the middle of the lobes where there were fewer nerve endings, so it didn't hurt that bad. It was kinda tedious with the slooooooooow pressing of the needle (didn't have the guts to just pierce through it quickly), and then pushing the needle out with something less pointy so I didn't lose track of the hole, and then push that back out with an earring.
Pierced ears I like on a woman.. pierced anything else I'm pretty indifferent. I like tattoo work; as long as it's something that is a little more unique or meaningful and not just another lame tramp stamp or chinese character.
I have a tattoo that covers my back, don't have any piercings or any other mods.

To get back on topic, some piercings are really disgusting. There's one, I heard, called "Prince Albert" Where men pierce their penis. I almost threw up when I heard about it.
