Professionally done piercings are just kinda "stab - replace with earring thing", aren't they?
With proffesionally dsone piercings there is a catheder around the needle, so once you pierce the skin you can take out the needle while the catheder keeps the hole open and then you put the jewellery into the end of the catheder and pull it through. It's not that simple but yeah.
As for the OP, I'm very into body modification, I've had my left nostril pierced, my septum still is pierced and stretched to 5mm, both my lobes are stretched to one inch. I used to have an 8mm labret (the beginning of a lip plate but it failed). I also had my dimples pierced and rings through both sides of my top lip. Oh yeah, and my left nipple used to be as did something else. I'm also looking into Tongue splitting as some of you know.
I think that people that have body modifications are, for the most part, insecure. I can understand reasonable body piercings, but tattoos and plastic surgery are dumb.
i dislike body piercings to no end. i was really unhappy when my sis got them in her ear... why do you want to poke a hole in your skin? for aesthetics 'corse!
tattoos i'd rather they be washable because i don't want a sharp pen damaging anyone's skin cells

What makes you think that body mod and good self esteem are mutually exculsive?
Well when it is professionally done you have a better chance of not getting an ear infection.

See my friend put it through the first hole fine, but then couldn't find the second hole, so it was like she was digging around in an open wound.

I think ear piercings on women are fine, On men its kinda weird but doesnt bother me. Any other places just disturb me. I dont like tattoos that much either. And I think stuff like forking your tounge is just plain strange.
