in case you dont know, cash for clunkers is a goverment run company that pays cash for old crappy cars. but, apparently, if you open a cash for clunkers email or visit their website, you are giving the government "permission" to search your computer. now im the last person to buy into conspiracy theories but with obama in charge im not so sure anymore. so id like the opions of the AG users. is the government using cash for clunkers to spy on americans? (oh, btw, this was either on fox news or cnn. you know, big news companies, not hipies or hobos or sumtin like that)

>.< I agree with the police sort of stuff and maybe suspicious neighborhoods but here's a thing: The plot behind Eagle Eye? Ya that's right, cellphones. Everyone has one.

Please explain Eagle Eye to me.

If that's something everyone knows about, then I'm sorry.

its a mediocre movie starring shia labouf (dude in transformers movies). this big government computer thing goes haywire and decides that humans arent perfect and need to be eliminated or somtin like that. the big comp can like take over cellphones and pretty much anything electronic.

It's not like we are not being completely watched already. Why would they use Cash for Clunkers as a way to get into peoples computers. This makes no sense. They can already do what they want. Who cares? Seriously. It's not like a dude sits there and talks about the websites you've visited. They have software that collects data, and categorizes people according to the things they are doing, and once it gets to a warning level, thats when people start observing you. I think it helps us have better intelligence. Seriously as long as they are not exploiting us, I don't care.

you will never know when the step from collecting data to a missuse or exploitation will happen.

and i really do not feel great, that the state can read my emails, without me knowing.
1. you have a right to privacy, even on the internet
2. as far as i know in every country the presumption of innocence is a legal right. so i do not see a reason why there should be intel on every single person

Isn't that just like Americans, thinking the United States is the only country in the world...

but with obama in charge im not so sure anymore

*builds brick wall, injects novocaine*

the government (under obama) want to control as much as they possibly can.

*hits head against wall*

we're slowly becoming a socialist contry.

*again*

I would argue these points. . .but they're so misinformed. No offense, but they just. . .fail. Do some research and retry.

Honestly, this is either a crazy conspiracy theory, a senseless conspiracy theory, or a senselessly crazy conspiracy theory. Or all of the above.

But really. . .the government already pretty much watches and monitors everything, so why should we care?

As in they monitor pretty much everything public.

It's not like they've bugged every toilet across the USA or something - quite frankly, I don't really care. I don't feel violated or wronged at all, mainly because I never know when they're monitoring me. Because I'm oblivious of it, I really don't care.

The US government has always been paranoid - why else would we have missile defense systems in European and Asian bases? Why else would we have our boomer submarines all across the oceans of the world?

well it is not public. they can read your mail, or search your computer without informing you. since GW Bush the governement can even search your house without a warrant and informing why the house is being searched and even if they search it.

i do not like the governement search my property, be it virtual or real, and i do not like being assumed as a criminal.
and even if they never searched me(i think so i will never be sure), i do not like the fact that they can.

it is really going in the wrong direction. 1984 is not far

I really think that's a bit of an exaggeration. Just my opinion though.

they can read your mail,

Evidence? Was this decreed by the Bush Administration?

or search your computer without informing you

I definitely consider that wrong.

the governement can even search your house without a warrant and informing why the house is being searched and even if they search it.

While I personally think that they should sat least provide a reason, keep in mind that the government wouldn't just randomly search someone's house. There would most likely be a reason.

i do not like the fact that they can.

I don't either - but I wouldn't care if they did, because I would never be informed. Therefore, I wouldn't know. What you don't know can't hurt you.

Look guys, there isn't much to worry about when it comes to C4C. It will probably be shut down by Friday.

So if you don't know someone's about to kill you it won't hurt you?

This is BS from the information I've gathered. Wonder what idiot came up with it.

Its written in the Patriot Act. yes it was the bush administration. its still a law.

or search your computer without informing you

I definitely consider that wrong.

and it is happening. you do not even have to have a warrant, the police can decide by themselves who they search.

There would most likely be a reason.

for example you fit a profile that might make you a criminal. and that is simply neither a good reason for legal action against a person.
it is wrong to assume that someone is guilty of a crime according to a profile.

I really think that's a bit of an exaggeration. Just my opinion though

as you said by yourself the governement monitors everyone. i do not say it is going to be like in the book soon(and i hope it never will), but laws like the patriot act open big doors for such an development.

What you don't know can't hurt you.

well it can.
and it is not about me as a person being searched. i have nothing to hide. i simply think that the privacy rights, every person has should be respected.
