If you look throughout wars humans have become quite efficient at dealing death. The A-bomb and H-bomb were developed to destroy millions of lives. In the future do you think that creating a super killing machine will (in the end) do something as drastic as blow up the earth?

No, I don't see ourselves wiping ourselves out with some un-godly superweapon. I see us doing it with genetic manipulation and scientists pushing the boundaries just too far, designing ourselves out of existance. But, as none of us will live to see anything like the end of humanity in our lifetime, I wouldn't worry about it.

In a thread making mood Graham?

Learning is our end. Our end already is here. With knowledge comes ignorance, which is what we're experiencing right now. We just need to learn how to control the ignorance.

I believe learning will be our end because will eventualy make a device/thing capable of destroying the world. like a bomb or accidentaly turning someone into a mutant or a machine like the terminater because it only takes one falty wire or a spill in a lab to do so.

we already have such devices.
and it is not the striving for more knowledge that is going to be our end, but the stupid use of the cleverly invented stuff.

We already have! The LHC is going to kill us all!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAA

Seriously though, maybe. We're not out of the woods with nukes yet... but.. I'd be leaning towards no. I'm hoping we're more intelligent then that as a species.

I wouldn't be suprised just look at this.
It's quite sad really why we even bother making weapons so powerfull they could basically destroy us or lead to our destruction. USA is already making Laser to protect themselves from

military forces have always evolved to protect national interests, both military and economic

I don't think national interests are as imporantant if we are dead >.<". I'm not targeting USA it's just a good example.

I dont thnk the earth is going to blow up but it may cause a huge outbreak of death and disease...but i cant really say that mankind is even going to be that stupid to create something of that much destruction.

we have proven, that if we get the chance we build the most powerful weapon with the stuff we have.

Learning can be our end. There is a very good chance that we will destroy ourselves with our own technology. Very ironic, since we develop our technology to further our well-being.

If catastrophic events don't end the human race, the human race will without a doubt end itself. One day humans will create something that will eventually be our end.

Just remember, the better we get at killing, we are not far behind in nonlethal weapons as well.

Blow up the Earth? I doubt it. That would have to be one huge bomb, and we'd have to get it to the Earth core. If we're going to do it effectively at least. We could of course just blow up everything on the surface and say it's blown up.

Will learning be the end of us? Probably. Either we develop weapons that destroy the human race, or we create such advanced technology that we can't control it. Well, those are just two ways it could cause the end of us, there's a lot more.
