because it's a way of making the item seem less costly

I tell you something that is worse:
Danish stores doing that. We only have the 50 oere left, so when shops sell stuff for 19,95 or even 19,75 we still need to pay 20 kroner.
It is... Quite annoying, because only if you buy a LOT of those things, you will get money back - -

19.95 sounds much cheaper than 20 but in fact it isn`t.

Well, in reality, 19.95 is quite a bit cheaper then 20. Not right away, but it does add up in the end, just, not right away,

actually i think they make up for the 5 cents by adding it to the shipping and handling....

Well, pretty much every item in shops end with .99 or .95

It's the same in stores though, nothing is ever .00 it's always .95 or .99 to make the price seem smaller, when it actually is, and does add up after a while.

Not really. Unless by "after a while" you mean 15 years and by "it adds up" you mean $7.00

I bet it adds up alot quicker then that,

Ever been to a grocery store? How many items do you usually buy? Atleast 20 in a couple days? which equals a dollar already. so, no, 15 years will be alot more then 7.00, common sense, plus I bet you buy items from more places then the grocery store.

i see more .99's than .95s so i'd guess 20 items = 10 cents :]

with food tax each item is about 2 cents higher than the dollar :P

I see it a lot. It doesn't fool me! I never buy stuff from commercials unless they have it at the store.

It makes it seem less expensive than $20, and while it is less expensive, it's not by much.
