PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING

Now you're probably opening this thinking "oh great another rant on religion", well you're right. But please keep reading on because what I have to say is important and applies to all beliefs, even if you don't have one.

Many religions now believe the world is going to end, soon. Basically they believe this because of "signs" and their precious magic books. Well the scary thing is the world could end soon, and religion could actually be its cause. The fact is, for the world to live on religion must die. Faith is nothing to brag about it, and people who accept faith, or preach it are just intellectual slaveholders. Religion has caused so much craziness and destruction and I think 9/11 is a great example, however I won't get into it much because of everything else I have to say.

Now, why is religion so powerful? Because it allows people who DON'T have the answer to what happens when we die to think they do. If you're a christian or any other religion you may think it's great to say "PLEASE GOD I'M WILLING! I'LL DO ANYTHING YOU ASK OF ME!" Well guess what, there are no gods talking to us so that void is filled in by corrupt and often hostile people.

This is why anti-religious rationalists must come out of the freakin closet and let themselves be heard. And for those of you who only consider yourselves "a little religious", is the safe feeling of believing in a religion worth the pain and destruction it causes? If you belonged to a social group that wasn't a religion that involved so much bigotry, homophobia, violence, and ignorance as religions you would quit the club and protest against it. And if the end of the world comes because of nuclear arms led by religious nut jobs... just remember what the true problem was. We found a way to end lives on a mass scale before we stopped wishing for it.

He is a newb tard atheist i am a real atheist (actually prolly one in a million atheist) that respects other religions he is just asking for a punch in the face and a meaningless existence

"I am a real atheist"

"respects other religions"

'Other'... religions? This just in: atheism isn't a religion; more at eleven.

I do have to say though Lieutenut - I agree with those on the side of religion; banning religion is something that should never happen in the U.S.A.

I know, I said I switched my feelings on that earlier.

aren't christians supposed to be merciful?

They definitely weren't merciful in the Crusades. I honestly don't know how they could kill so many people and still say that it was God's wishes.

It was the pope that egged on the Crusades, not because he wanted to do it all for God, but because he wanted the wealth of Jerusalem back. That is an example of a Christian leader misusing the "fear of God" to get to his own ends.

Ah. I wouldn't expect that in such a high ranking religious official, even back then. They were still merciless in doing so.

Lieutenut, I do respect your opinion. Me being a Catholic, I am a proud believer in God. I don't think that everything that the priests, higherarchy, or the Bible says is true. What I take from it are the morals that guide MY life: be a good person. Sir, that is all I need from you, and all you need to do. I think that JJ attacking what you think is wrong, and just for the record, I think he should just back off. He should just keep believing and not mind what others say. Sorry about the ramble.

HAHAHA first, your not religious you care at all why? Secondly this is a pretty bad argument in fact it's a rant that's a bout it. Your acting like every stereotype of religion you've ever heard is true. Also your grouping every religion together which is completely a terrible comparison. I live my life by the bible and I've yet to hear a good argument against it, how do I know it's true because I just do. I can't give you an explanation and I don't have to; I don't need an explanation to why your an atheist either. Atheists also haven't been this best thing for the world Hitler, Stalin... In it's entire history religion has been used for many terrible things but it has been USED. Religion=bad, relationship with Jesus=good.

Calm down man, respect that he's voicing his thoughts. Fighting him like this just reinforces his thinking.

I am calm, I'm just voicing my thoughts, which were less ranting than his OP. I just responded to his post.
