What if you got points for the length you plaied a game, or how many times you plaied a game? cause i'll sit down and play a game for a while, but if i rate it and leave a coment i still only get 2 points...never going to get 42K points that way, how do yall get so many?
Most people get a bunch of AP by talking to friends and communicating in the community. Really, AP measures activeness in the community more than anywhere else on the site.
Like NoNam, it just depends on how active you are. Just make a lot if friends and talk on their wall to get extra AP. Try to get merits by making great comments on each game, and you'll probably end up with a lot of merits.
You receive a merit when you write a good game review in the comments box, and then a moderators runs across it.
As for the OP's suggestion, a lot of people would just leave the game running all day or something. Then they'd get points without even doing anything. The way it is now, you have to be fairly active in the community to get a lot of points. The most you could get from just rating games is around 2,000.
i sort of agree with you because i think some people just go throgh and don't play the game but coment on the game like by saying good game and rate it then never play it so i think there should be a way for people to have to play the game

The only way to do that would be to have the developer put a little check point in his game, and once you reach that part you'll get the points for playing it. For the system to be reliable they'd have to get every single developer to do it though.

yeah that might be a problem i think developers want to post their games only and not d extra stuff so people can get more AP
Points themselves are a reward. You play games to have fun, not to get points. Points are assigned to things that people would normally not do, such as giving reviews. In short, playing FREE games is its own reward, no need for points at all.
