So let's say that Canada (the country your profile says your from) becomes a dictatorship, and you're forced against your will to join the army. During the war you have to kill people, merely because your commander told you to. If you don't do it you'll be killed on the spot. After the war is over, the people leading it were put on trial, but not the ones like you. Should they come back and punish you for what you did 60 years later?
Or even if you committed the crimes without being told, but you were never caught. Should you be punished so long after the fact?

Usually after someone looks something up they know a bit about the subject. Just because we're not historians doesn't mean we don't know anything about WWII. Modern day Nazi's wouldn't necessarily know about WWII either.
