As far as the state of the economy is concerned, what is actually going on right now is very diabolical. People in power are currently saying that capitalism has failed and socialism is here to save the day. The actual reality is that some very wealthy, powerful men have been capitalizing gains, but now they want to socialize losses
The entire government is made up of two large capitalist parties
The entire government is not so cohesively or simply organized as that. There's a mixture of players, some private sector, some government, some USA, some not.
I have made some very broad, unsubstantiated claims and it would take me literally days if not weeks to properly organize material for you to back up my perspective.
Which I am willing to do... but please understand it will be a while before I can present something substantial. The forum's a hobby for me which I can only spend so much time on. =)
But hey, if you want some things to get you started: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skull_and_Bones http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilderberg_Group#Participants
While I certainly don't subscribe to some of the truly wild conspiracy theories people have about these groups, it is a preliminary indication to you of how the elite function. They will not be accountable to the likes of you or me. They are on a whole different level than the "two capitalistic parties" we have here in the us... and their ability to influence the world can hardly be denied. Happy googling! I'll have tons more info for you in a while.

The democrats and the republicans are capitalists, they are the two parties in the government that have any power. But when did I say the private sector doesn't have any power? Technically speaking a corporation isn't a political party but they can use corporate lobbyists and special interest groups which do in fact influence the entire nation.
Socialism for the rich is not demcratic socialism or Marxism. If it only benefits the rich I don't see how that is following any real socialist theory...

And here arises a difference between theory and practice. Socialism as its currently practiced in the USA is, to my observation, clearly for the richest of the rich.
There were Italian communes throughout the middle ages that worked until they were destroyed by land lords or kings and queens, there was a Spanish Commune that was destroyed by the fascists and let's not forget about the Paris Commune which was crushed by the German and French armies.
If the two parties in power are both capitalist groups, why do we have a socialist government and mixed economy?
A mixed economy? Does the United States even have a national health care option like the U.K or Scandinavia? ( The new health care bill for the U.S is only expanding health care, not making it universal. The only socialized medicine is the Veteran's Association and medicare. ) There are regulations over big businesses because they have proven that they always either use false advertisment or make a product that hasn't been tested properly and could damage people's health ( i.e led poisoning ).
The United States isn't quite socialist to me...the wealth is not fairly distributed and there are no companies where the workers unions can democratically make the decisions in them instead of CEOs. This scare about socialism produced by conservatives is a myth. But capitalism can't survive without a small amount of socialistic reforms, but a small amount mind you.
The scare isn't about becoming Socialist, it is moving towards it. Possibly sending us on a slippery slope if we don't do something about it. America has historically been a center-right country especially in comparison with others. Now we are moving more towards center or even center-left if things don't change.
And about the workers unions, they don't need to be making decisions instead of the CEO. The CEO owns the company, and put more effort forward than anyone else, he should get the final say in any company move. America isn't a democracy, its a republic.

If the mighty CEO had no workers, he would have no money. I think it is only fair that he actually shares it evenly. Sure, he could get a higher amount of money still, but the gap between the rich and the poor should shrink.
It is all about making the poor richer and the rich poorer, and i feel that for those who have earn't thier wealth through toil and labour shouldn't be made to give up what they have. So capitalism

That is more of a Socialist state.
