Ok well I'm pretty sure a lot of us has read a mystery story at some point, whether it be because you enjoy such stories, were so bored out of your mind you would do anything, or because it was an English assignment. Either way, that's what this thread is about. Somewhat.
Here's the deal of the Whodunit thread, which is slightly a contest. I will write a mystery story. Within said story will be several subtle clues as to whom the perpetrator is, however never will the story state clearly the perpetrator, how they committed their crime, the motive, or anything likewise. That...will be your job.
You, the reader, will attempt to solve the crime. The first person to correctly guess the perpetrator, how they did it, their motive for doing it, when and where the crime took place, and solid evidence that your theory is correct, will win. Winner's prize will be to give me a plot line, characters, etc. for the next mystery, if they wish. That of course, is optional. If no one has guessed the right answer in five days, then I will pronounce the mystery as unsolved, and you will have to pace trying to figure it out. You can still guess what happened in a previous unsolved mystery and I will tell you if correct or incorrect, but you will gain nothing from it.
Understood?
Terrific. I will release the first story shortly.

*sigh*
After much self debate, I have finally decided to tell you guys the answer on the deadline if no one guesses it correctly. This will only be for this round. That way you can sort of get a feel for my style. I decided to take mercy on you since it's only the first round.

Okay... Let's try this.

Charles goes to see his friend, the victim, but at their house he discovers he is out of medicine. The victim attempts to calm him down, Charles goes wild. While they are fighting, Thomas Hack visits. He witnesses Charles and the victim fighting. Charles kills the victim.
Thomas starts to help, but then remembering he was fired he instead decides to rob the house on the only time he'd ever be in the house. This is why he changed times, because it took that long to steal some valuables.
He convinces Charles that it was self-defense and not to tell anyone, because he would be charged. Later, he kills Charles so he is the only one with knowledge about the crime.
The motive is money to support himself and revenge for being fired, the proof is the drugs, hair, the time change, that he was the first one on the scene, and the left-handed cut.

I think I have an idea.

Charlie Wyatt is the murderer. The white powder at the scene was a dead giveaway, as well as him being left handed. He did in fact have a mental disorder, which could have been the motive behind the murder. Charles could have gotten worse and got paranoid and believed Timothy was out to get him, a common cause of murder it mentally ill people. I also think that Mrs. Monroe could have commanded him to do it, maybe due to a lack of will in Charles. People in affairs often kill their lovers if their spouses get to suspicious, or even find out.

In the end I do think his mental issue was the cause of murder, and that would also explain why he committed suicide. He felt very guilty over what he had done, couldn't live with himself, and ended his own life.

@Thyll

It's pretty solid...But I'm just unsure about some parts. Like how you didn't involve anything with the affair...

Hmmm very smart. Never thought about him committing suicide. Seriously, it never occurred to me.

@Moat

Ackzzz why are you all putting the affair in there? You can't take...nevermind, nevermind. *sigh*
Papi, tomorrow is deadline. Then I will announce what happened, and anyone who got it wrong can kick themselves. I decided to be lenient on the first time. Not just for you guys, either. I mean, how would it feel if you went to all the trouble to write such a brilliant story and you couldn't tell anybody what happened? No no.
Like I said, today is the final day! Get your submissions in!
Deadline is tomorrow, August 24

Eh?

Whoops. I thought you said you'd release it once I- someone guessed the correct answer?

Nevermind.

Off to read!

Pfft. Overconfident manta.
I decided that you can change your guess, and you can guess twice. But I won't tell you if you're right or wrong, so if you were right and change your guess, you won't know. And if I stop the competition after someone guesses right, then everyone else will know that if I don't stop the comp, then they were wrong and they will change their guess. I'll tell who was right first on the deadline, tomorrow.
And besides, I'm not done with the next one. I've been busy...procrastinating.

And now I'm going to procrastinate more. It's called eating breakfast.
Manta, you don't have my "good luck!" call. You are too confident. Maybe you'll be right though. You are a good detective, I'll give you that. But my brain is twisted.

Pfft. Overconfident manta.

Overconfident Manta is overconfident!

Manta, you don't have my "good luck!" call.

Overconfident Manta is sad...

Overconfident manta is finished!

Overconfident Manta will stop referring to himself in the third person.

Now, I'm gonna look back through and find the key pieces of information, go to the movies, and guess when I get back.

Ok overconfident manta. See ya after the movies.
When you get back, just out of curiosity, which movie are you seeing?
Aww I didn't want to make you sad. But if manta is so confident he doesn't need luck.
He already has epic detective skillz!

Erm, I'm like leaving in three minutes, so I might as well tell you.

District 9. I've been told to remember the term "fingernails..."

He already has epic detective skillz!

Yes he does!

Oh, for when I get back, do you want criticism or my guess first?
