Ok well I'm pretty sure a lot of us has read a mystery story at some point, whether it be because you enjoy such stories, were so bored out of your mind you would do anything, or because it was an English assignment. Either way, that's what this thread is about. Somewhat. Here's the deal of the Whodunit thread, which is slightly a contest. I will write a mystery story. Within said story will be several subtle clues as to whom the perpetrator is, however never will the story state clearly the perpetrator, how they committed their crime, the motive, or anything likewise. That...will be your job. You, the reader, will attempt to solve the crime. The first person to correctly guess the perpetrator, how they did it, their motive for doing it, when and where the crime took place, and solid evidence that your theory is correct, will win. Winner's prize will be to give me a plot line, characters, etc. for the next mystery, if they wish. That of course, is optional. If no one has guessed the right answer in five days, then I will pronounce the mystery as unsolved, and you will have to pace trying to figure it out. You can still guess what happened in a previous unsolved mystery and I will tell you if correct or incorrect, but you will gain nothing from it. Understood? Terrific. I will release the first story shortly.
=0 whoa five hour long movie manta. Or maybe he has better things to do =). I came here to let you all know that the release of the next mystery will probably have to be postponed. I have writer's block and I'm nowhere near done. I won't finish it tomorrow cuz I have school, so.... And a reminder(for the fifth time or something like that)today is the last day to submit your guesses.
I'll just throw out my crazy, poorly thought out idea real quick (I have to go like RIGHT NOW!!):
There wasn't a motive! the guy who takes the anti-halucogens forgot to take them and went crazy, and killed the victim for no reason, other than that he was in a temporary state of insanity!
Ok, sorry I'm late. Personal problems didn't allow me to get on yesterday. Anyways, I will now gather all the guesses and tell ya what actually happened. Why? This is for the first time only, so you can see what kind of mysteries my twisted brain conjures up.Unfortunately, I don't have the next story ready yet and probably won't for a while. I think TSL was probably closest, but he failed to mention something crucial. Here's what happened. As you all have correctly guessed, Charles Wyatt was the murderer, I made that part easy for you. But here's what actually went on. Thomas Hack did not go to the victim's house to talk about getting his job back. As demonstrated at the funeral, he had a drinking problem. He intended to beat up the victim and teach him a lesson. The victim, seeing Hack pulling up, was suspicious, but didn't call the police because he wasn't sure. Instead, he called his best friend, Charlie Wyatt. Wyatt felt so rushed to defend his friend, he left, right in the middle of what he was doing, which was taking his anti-hallucination pills. He arrived at the victim's house. Thomas Hack had already attacked the victim. During the struggle, the victim had pulled out one of Hack's hairs. That's when Wyatt arrived. He had brought a knife, and intended to help his friend. But he began hallucinating. He thought Timothy was Hack and vice versa. He sneaks up behind the victim(who he thought was Hack) and slit his throat. Then, he fled the scene. Clues to this would be the pill powder. Hack stayed there in shock, and called the police. He lied to them, afraid that he would be arrested for assault, or worse yet, accessory to murder. Clues pointing to this would be the time change. Then we come to the funeral. Hack paid each of the important people to act like they had something severe against Wilheim and in Mrs. Monroe's case, act gentler. Clues to this would be the unexplained coffin-side manner, and the fact that Mrs. Wilheim was wearing a very expensive dress, when Mr. Monroe had clearly stated that the company was going under. They wouldn't have been able to afford such a dress without some kind of stimulus money. Then Hack sent Det. Carlos off on a wild goose chase with the affair, which led nowhere. But Charles Wyatt couldn't take it anymore. He committed suicide. And that's what happened.
How in the world would we know that?! I mean, when you got to the part where Hack paid the guys, I was starting to get confused. No one would of guessed that he paid everyone. Nor would they have guessed that the affair was fake.
And one more thing. If Charles Wyatt committed suicide, then please explain the slashes all over his body.
Papi, you are perfectly capable of slashing yourself like that. Eh? Ok first of all, they were women. And second of all, I clearly mentioned how expensive the dress was, and Mr. Monroe mentioned how the company was going under. They were all... nevermind... Just try not to criticize. I put a lot of effort into that story yanno, and it was fairly good. I mean, did you really expect it to be perfect?
Well I expected the answer to be not as hard to find. I'm not saying your story was bad. It was good, just like any of your stories. So when's the next gonna be out?
Sorry if I kind of jumped on you there papi. I'm in a bit of a bad mood right now. But I'll try to make the next one a bit easier. And I didn't expect you all to get the whole scheme, I just wanted you to give me a basic outline, something like. "Hack went to the boss's house and attacked him. Proof is the hair at the scene and the fact that he changed the times. Wilheim went to the house during the assault and accidentally killed the victim as opposed to Hack, because he was hallucinating, then killed himself. Proof is the pills." I didn't expect you to get the whole "aid them" thing, but I thought that might point you to the direction to disregard the funeral. And yeah, the next one is in production.
Oh come on! You could of said that earlier! Well I guess this one would just count as an introductory mystery. To get a feel of how you write your mysteries. I'm not gonna rush you.
