So, since my last competition was pretty much a discussion, I'll now close that and move over to this general colony discussion (the others are all specific)
TALK ABOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO COLONY (and beef burgers)
What POS means is the Foxer build is the only big thing. I heard rumors recently of a Anti-Foxer build, but don't know if it's true. I am not really focused on skill, but on the stats of the game. Currently there is a cloud of imbalance blossoming in Colony. The work I have been doing in the last week has given me astonishing result, that even I never knew after playing for over 17 months. I have also found the source of several bugs, and more info on the mechanics. On top of that I have noticed many unused elements that haven't been implemented.
emmalouc1, you aren't a strategy style gamer, which is why you don't understand why Colony has its reputation. You are a person who enjoys RPGs and simple FPS's. As you may know Colony is an RTS. Most people with your style of gamming don't like RTS games.
I've never even played colony, but I think its over-rated...
I love it when people pwn themselves like this. I don't even need to go through the trouble to explain why they have failed epically
In my eyes it's just a strong strategy but takes no skill to perform.
Nah, it does take quite a bit of skill in my opinion. I think the only builds that take no skill are the lamer monarchy rushes, and pure roman rush :P Also, pride rush, although people stopped doing that 2 versions ago.
In my eyes it's just a strong strategy but takes no skill to perform.
In your eyes, yes Yos. However, in my opinion, Colony is a strategy game that requires some thinking involved. Some critical-thinking skills could be useful.
POS, your comparisons are false. I think you are comparing strategy tiers. I am comparing how easy it is to win when using the strategy. I am actually wrong when I used the term Foxer because the Colony Foxer relies a exploiting a certain imbalance, which I still haven't found the source. I may have an innovative playstyle, but I perform it well enough to prove to be a difficult opponent. I am not saying tdh, maker of the Foxer, is a terrible player, but he doesn't use any skill. He relies on a certain imbalance and bases his style around it. I guess you can call his style abstract exploitation, for now until a patch or someone finds a counter. I reject players that use this style, even though their goal is to win every game. Now onto the Rush Rush. The Roman Rush is a cheese strategy. It lots of skill to perform a successful Roman Rush. Monarchy Rushes shouldn't be a problem. I know because I used Monarchy when I came back. Monarchy was nerfed since its release. In addition you have to be pretty stupid if you rush using Monarchy.
Well... You have a point Yos, but it requires some thinking just to come up with strategies and/or tactics. After you're done, no thinking should be required. However, thinking in a few seconds could be useful in games if something goes wrong.
