A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

This thread is tired of people judging it. It wants to be accepted for what it is.

^ looks like we have a volunteer
But in all honesty, there are only a handful of people who could possibly judge this...

And I'm one of them.

Get over it, I've had English testing all week and even if I wanted to judge it, I wouldn't. I'll do it first thing in the morning.

I miss this contest
I want to submit something
But entries are closed

I'll do it first thing in the morning.

Which morning did you mean? Saturday or Sunday morning? It really depends on what time zone you're in.

Nonetheless, I think you may be a bit overdue. I don't recall this contest ever reaching the second page in my experience.

A bit? The Haiku thread judging has a tradition of being late. EnterOrion is now establishing a new tradition: to be late on the traditional being-late

I apologize for not posting. I was waiting on my drafting on Fallen to help me alternate, but he decided not to read his comments.

So, he's fired. Who wants the job?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Top Three this time. If you want critique, profile comments are the accepted medium. I'll post opinions, as well as the score, on the main judging for Top Three winners, but for in depth even they must request it. Ultra long judgings no one cares to read aren't happening anymore. I'm a bit cranky right now, so I apologize in advance if I'm not being humorous enough.

Bronze Award goes to Wolf1991!

Desert of crystal.
Death bearing down upon poor
Fools. Who tried crossing.

29/29/16

Quite a decent Haiku if I say so myself. The last line failed it, however, due to the fact you use a period instead of a comma or nothing at all. It sliced the sentence up. Overall an excellent poem, though.

Silver Award goes to Matrix

26/33/30

Artificial Drone,
Our catastrophic problem,
Cessation of life.

Excellent job, Matrix, excellent job. Great diction and the flow is even. No qualms about this one. It was an effective improvement over the original version, though the difference may be negligible. Excellent job.

The Gold Award goes to pHacon! Excellent job, pH.

The census runs deep;
Blood sown for the fallow fields.
Life Earth can't support.

33/33/33.1

Excellent job, pH. The fact that is tells a political and economic woe increases excellence just that much more. Diction is good, and flow is great. Perfect Haiku, you really have a knack for these things.

Enjoy.

Theme: Rupture
Deadline: 4/17/11
Judging: Some time after that.

Happy haiku'ing.

Good job, pHacon.

Oh, well, at least I got placed in the top three. I'll probably write something for this theme.

Takes too long, and nobody reads it anyways.

Just ask, simple as that.
