A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Perhaps you're thinking
Is not all history old?
Well so is your face

The building crumbles.
What was part of history,
Lies in pieces now.

@Dudeguy
The last line has 6 syllables

Just pretend there was an "us" at the end and it'll work.

I see what you mean there. But seriously a haiku is 5-7-5. Do you guys know anything?

all he need's to do is find a different word for "unbounded" that is only 2 syllables and he will be fine...

Oh, right. Sorry, getting late, I'm tired, and I'm sort of brain dead at the moment. I'm sure I could come up with a few more excuses, but I'm lazy.

Endless, perhaps. Or maybe I should just shut up and let him handle it himself.

maybe i'm just weird like this, but isn't we'll 2 syllables? "We-ul" is how i pronounce it lol
i suppose i should look it up...
But in the case i'm correct:
@BlackSkullDragon

We shall not forget.
Of their mistakes we must learn
Or we'll fall again

That last line has 6 syllables

Less correct-y, more sendy! If I don't get a sizable amount of entries, I cannot 100% judge. That means, I can judge which haiku I deem is best, but I cannot notify mods to give you merits.

I also suspect that....this theme isn't very good, is it? I have to admit, I was a little fast on that one.

@KingLemon I looked up the amount of syllables in "we'll" but I couldn't find anything about it. I asked it in Yahoo! Answers and it looks like some people say it in two syllables and some say it in one. I will leave it to Freakenstein, if he thinks that it has two then I will change my last line and if he thinks that it only has one I will leave it the way it is.

@Freakenstein I think that the theme is good but it might be hard for some users to come up with something about Ancient History. I also hope that some users write something today because the thread has been really quiet compared to the previous weeks. By the way, could you give me your opinion in the amount of syllables in "we'll" because I want to know if I will have to change the last line of my haiku.

well the only reason why i was correcting was because the entry wont even have a chance at winning if it is not the correct amount of syllables...
I like the theme actually, it was easier than it looked to come up with a haiku, i think people just feel threatened by it?

Have no fear children
ancient history is fun
just make a haiku! (already) lol ik that's not 5syllables in that last if you include already...
