A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

There is no light to be found
monsters lurking here.

I don't know if I spelled abyss right, it is that thing that is a deep black hole.

My judging. This is for the previous theme, in case anyone isn't paying attention.

This will be the top four, so yeah.

Bronze Award: pHacon

With technology
What glory can we create?
Our own destruction?

I read it as is, not with what it could be. So that's why this made it. Good one for sure. And yes, it is pessimistic.

Silver Award: TerryLasVegas

We've come a long way
From the age of the caveman
to the age of space

Not bad. It seemed a little cut off, but this is a haiku, so no points deducted.

Gold Award: Armpit

Halt. System error.
Dysfunctional malfunction.
This does not compute.

Kaboom.

Platinum Award and the winner: Samy

Automatons march
With silicon fueled minds
Circuit board frenzy

Thanks adios and not to be dumb bug is there a merit for this? Not that it really matters but if there is it'd be nice to get it. Haha

I know that the winner gets a merit, but what about the bronze award and the silver award??? Do those winners get merits too? Or just one?

Alright, now on to the latest theme. I think Darkness had the most cliche, yet more creative thought put into the haikus.
