A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.
Well, that said, heres the rules:
1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)
Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...
The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

why so sad little sister

Oh, these spring days!
A nameless little mountain,
wrapped in morning haze!
Spring too, very soon!
They are setting the scene for it --
plum tree and moon.
The sun's way:
hollyhocks turn toward it
through all the rains of May.
you did a why so thing?
To all newcomers; please choose one submission for the contest. The judge can only be judging one, and he's in no position to choose which; that's your job.
To all the old coots around; Good luck, and happy haikuing!

Sorry but all of your haikus do not have to correct amount of syllables. Make a new one if you can. If you are still stuck, read the OP (opening post) at the first page here.
Hilarious. The thread gets a name change when it gets judged tomorrow. rofl! At least it did get changed though, so that's a plus.
AlienGirl and Halogunner, if you submit multiple entries, I just won't judge them. A judge shouldn't have to pick. That and it's incorrect as a haiku.
Just as a fair warning! Again, judging is tomorrow, so get those entries in before then!
Tomorrow? Ah, I was thinking about starting off again with a bang. But instead here's a quickie.
Glow of lightning
Gleaming light untouchable
Power then darkness
Eh.
Time fer th' judgin'!
The Chain Lightning award goes to: MRWalker82!
Lightning splits the sky
Kissing the clouds like a flame
Beautiful display
Very powerful display of art right here! I can almost imagine a fireworks display of lightning right now! Oooh, but then I'll get scared.....RANKED
The Hurricane award goes to: HahiHa!
Wind, blowing round me
Firmament, unchained and dark
Rain, scourging my face
Kinda sounds like you're inside a storm cell! Very well done, especially since you gave rain power by whipping you RANKED
The Cloud-on-Top-of-Your-Head award goes to: pHacon!
Clamor in the clouds
Currents of discord rising
Tumult joy, sadness
The VIVA LA REVOLUTION! award goes to: Graham!
Peering out the glass,
I saw the culmination...
Governed sedition.
Note: the spirit of a rebelling group of people as weather? I guess it does! Neato!
The Trial of the Mountains award goes to: KingLemon!
Climbing higher still,
My limbs grow numb as I rest.
Another is claimed.
Note: Quite grueling, climbing mountains are. You gotta endure the elements very head-on.
The Storm award goes to: Savingthedream14!
The rain pounds so hard,
The lightning lights up the room,
The storms instill fear.
Note: It seemed to me as though you tried very hard to paint a picture of a storm over a house. Instead of using verbs, try to use adjectives
The Boon of Mother Nature award goes to: FallenSky!
Footprints on the snow,
Love games in the grass; life and
Seasons are alike
Very spirited haiku! It's almost as though Mother Nature provided snow juuust for us! RANKED
The Firewheel award goes to: Savings123!
I watch closely as
the blaze spreads across the field.
The heat was too much.
Note: Oh my! It sounded like the flames destroyed everything in its path! I hope you didn't get burned....some use of adjectives to describe it would have been nice though.
The Maple Leaf award goes to: Wolf1991!
Canadians talk
About the weather a lot.
It's what we do, eh?
Note: very humorous! Though when I was in Canada, they talked about moose instead... /inside joke
The Druid award goes to: thepossum!
Whether blinding snow,
Or a light, sweet-smelling breeze,
Me and Earth are one.
The last time I was one with the Earth was sm--*COUGH* but it invoked a 12-second picture of you somehow being linked with Earth and Mother Nature. Snow and the chocolate-cake-flavored breeze made my senses turn on. RANKED
The Dark-Side-of-the-Leaf award goes to: Zaork!
Cleaved into senses
Bitter, interminable
Harshness sent skyward
The MOON IS GONZ0RZ award goes to: 1337Player!
I look up and see,
the darkness up in the sky.
Why so depressing?
I had to laugh at myself since I put down 1337 speak before I saw who made the haiku. I choked on my koolaid thanks!
Otherwise, simple, yet effective haiku; makes me feel like a lonely wolf howling at the moon that is gonz0rz.
The Shiva award goes to: Kyouzou!
An icy sleet falls fast
Clouds of snow swirl in the air
Majestic blizzard
Very beautiful haiku! Although blizzards can be potentially dangerous for those caught in the storm, afterwards, it's all fun and games! Clouds are so talented....RANKED
The Succinct Plasma Shot award goes to: Samy!
Glow of lightning
Gleaming light untouchable
Power then darkness
Essentially, lightning is plasma. Coupled with the glowing effect and the sudden strike of billions of electrons, you create a plasma shot. It was a quickie, yes, but you successfully showed me what a lightning bolt is, what it looks like, and how it acts. Well done!
The Winner of the Merit is.... M
Aww nuts! TAB + Enter = submit and I guess I accidentally posted.
*ahem*
The Winner of the Merit is.... MRWALKER82!!
Go grab a mod and receive your win!
Something cool I'd like to try. Some people do place markings, but to me, that just gives people a sense of who's-better-than-whom. Instead, I'll just place a RANKED mark next to your haiku if it is eligible for a merit. This way, others can look at the ranked haikus and see what you've done. We can sort of learn off each other this way. That's if you use that to your advantage...
Now, lesse here....
