A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Ancient trees guard it,
that dark mysterious place.
Great evil lurks there...

I want to change my own haiku:

Ancient trees guard it,
those woods, dark mysterious.
Great evil lurks there...

@Quirinus1
Personally I liked the first one better because it dosen't directly mention that it's in the woods, but it paints the scene of the setting.

Is the judging today? Or is today just the deadline?

@EmperorPalpatine

If like my second one better because it contains dark mysterious, which is the setting in two words. If I had to describe the picture in the least possible of words I would say dark mysterious.

The contest ends when the timecode passes 11:59pm tonight. Judging usually takes between 3 and 7 days.

Who is judging this round?

I think I'll change the punctuation on mine:

A dense fog rolls in,
Obscuring what lies beyond.
Dare I go deeper?

Just the deadline. Judging is whenever I feel like doing it.

Ernie, I believe. I judged last round.

Confirmed.

I'd really hate to be judging this one, there a lot of ones that could be potential winners, in my opinion.

Hopefully sooner rather than later ;3

This contest seems to be always hard to judge no matter what just because there are always several really good ones.

Just dropping by on my extremely slow Internet to see if the judging happened already. Looks like it hasn't.

I guess I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, since it's already the 24th here in the Philippines.

Hmph.
