A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

You should have murasaki9 as a judge. Afterall, she is an author of pretty good books.

She is also known for being a conoisseur of Haikus. She would be a great judge! However she will be busy publishing her books.

I think we're fine on judges. But does anyone else have a problem with it?

Me and dudeguy are trying our hardest to bring this contest back to glory and get merits back for more people to join. Will another judge help? Maybe 2?

Once merits come back, will winner receive their merits as well?

Your jobs are hard enough. You need 3 judges. It will help.

...What? Merits are gone from AG, we're just not rewarded them in the poetry contest.

I do think one more judge would help... Just who...

murasaki9... She has her own thread about Haikus. Try her if she is an exceptional judge. If not, look for someone else.

There aren't many people taking this seriously because there aren't many poets around here. Most of them have vanquished or dislike the themes.

You should make original, not overrated, and serious themes. Not humorous or questionable ones.

Another Brick in a Wall sounds like a good theme, but might be confusing for some.

I would prefer to make different themes.

Are you saying we need more judges?

Yes. EmperorPalpatine said he could do it a few pages back. I think he'd be good for the position.

I don't know Emperor, so I wouldn't suggest him (yet).

Is he into poetry?

Another brick in the wall.
The wall is rising,
For you keep adding layers.
When will it crumble?
I find this theme quite difficult, and ... yeah took me at least a minute to think of the first line itself.

It doesn't matter if YOU know him or not, or me for that matter. He's been consistently posting haikus here for about a year.

He also doesn't seem to carry any bias towards users, so he'll judge fairly.

Great Wall of China
How your grace amazes us,
But death under stone.

Many people were buried under the Great Wall of China. It is a beautiful site to see, but also a graveyard to thousands.

Sorry for double post. This is my official Haiku. (Do we have to announce it? I think it's easier if we announce our official Haikus.)

Great Wall of China
How your grace amazes us
With death under stone.

Emperor Palpatine. I'll ask him. Maybe he'll do it. I think he'd be great.
