A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Also, with a thread unnecessary posts will only get deleted if you report them; on a profile the owners can delete them.

I was thinking about locking the comments and putting the winner's names and their poems in the About. To avoid unnecessary posts in a thread, it could be locked other than when mods add new winners, but that might be burdensome for them.

Bravo! That could work! However, we should think of somthing better.

Let's follow Ghost's example.

Does anyone still remember the profile, "Merit_Recognition"? We can do something like that and lock all the comments. Only difficulty is the email.

Only difficulty is the email.

Why is that a difficulty? Make account and junk email, give username/password of both to other judges through private chat. If someone is removed from judging, change passwords, transfer info thru pvt chat. Seems simple enough.

Only difficulty is the email.

That can be easily dealt with.

Problem is an account requires an email

Any news about Dudeguy?

Who will judge the next round?

Any news about Dudeguy?

He said he'd do it today, but there's about 12 poems, so it could take a while.

Who will judge the next round?

Me.

Acmed: Okay, so, Emperor Palpatine is part of our lineup. Dudeguy will judge this round, Emp's got the next, and then me, and repeat.

Just make both a thread to display the work more prominently on the Forums and make an account for merits. Sort it out judges.

We don't even know if we have merits again mate. I doubt we will. If we do, the poetry contest would have them too, and they have it for a good reason. Not us.

Listen, we're not making another thread, just the account. We have to see whether or not Gantic will reinstate the merit system here.

Well, you want to get back the merit system and make the contest more prominent. Take steps to encourage people to come back. Displaying their Haikus and ensuring they are "immortalized" is just one step towards this. Leaving it up to general opinion.

If anything the account is the one that is less necessary and more redundant. We initially had those accounts as an easy place for mods to dish out merits; if we're using a locked account to display the winning Haiku each week, not only do we have less prominence since people are less lowly to visit a profile rather than thread especially if said thread is a sticky, but previous Haikus will be consequently pushed down and away unless we're constantly stacking Haikus, which will cause problems in the long run.

It will take more time for people to find that account or Haiku recognition. Not unless someone is researching everyone here in AG.

A thread would be more noticeable and draw more people's attention since it's in front of their faces. It would be even better if it was stickied...

Or we could have a locked sticky linking to the account. No further burden on the mods.

But as Nicho pointed out having a long list in the long run won't look very nice, maybe if you separated everything into months or seasons?

Killersup really doesn't care how long it takes a judge,as long as they stick to their word....
