A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

To keep the one week rule alive, I'll judge later this week but stay assured I'll do it as masterfully as usual, and with all my heart!

Happy Haikuing!

I'm interested in seeing what your judging is like.

I remember judging this contest back in the day... :P

I'm so sorry!! I knew I missed someone when I was judging! It was totally after the last judging and I missed it...

This haiku was a very basic explanation of what insanity could imply. Suicide can be one of them, but it's not usually the cause of it when people attempt, think about, or commit it. There's also the mention of using the theme in your haiku, which is a no-no. When you want to write a competent haiku, you want to describe what the theme is. Go into detail about something that is an example of the theme. Try and look at some of the ranked entries to get a better explanation of what I'm getting at here.

Hope you'll participate in the next theme! So, so sorry again!

Didn't know what parts to quote so I quoted the whole thing.
It's okay, I got a special mention didn't I? Yes I was very tired that day and I should've done something else to replace that haiku. Thanks for the advice.

Congratz to Graham for winning and to all the others for trying.

Time for my haiku. (See what I did there?)

The continuum,
in which events occur in.
Past, Present, Future.

Note: I might change it later on.

In which events occur in,

To my mind, using the word 'in' twice made this line sound strange.

Yeah, I myself had a run in with this word. You can kinda hear it if you say it slowly:

OWW err.... So if you think of a person that stubbed his toe on something completely bizarre, there ya go you got yourself an example!

Aw crap. Noticed a grammar mistake.

That's why you should believe in yourself!

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope the judge gets the cultural reference, because that joins the 3rd line to the 1st and 2nd conceptually.

Tonight might just be the judging night. I always judge past midnight because you know, I'm this unpunctual, last minute kind of guy.
