The United States is not, and never was, intended to be a democracy. The system was built upon the principals of polyarchy, which is a political system where the government is made up of "responsible" and wealthy elite. The rest of society is composed of a fragmented middle and lower class that every several years is allowed to participate politically to an extent while the wealthy monitors their opinions. Thanks to more than a few incidents regarding public opinion, the government and the constitution has changed quite a bit, but the basic system of polyarchy remains the same.
Notice how we are only allowed to vote for TWO presidents from only TWO parties that represent the same economic and political ideology. Does that mean the two parties are the same? No, but they are still both center-right and that means we will always have the same basic system unless a radical change occurs spontaneously in one of the two parties or if a third party candidate that represents a libertarian, socialist, or even fascist movement is elected.

The truth is that only the rich have a shot at being president.

Actually that's not entirely true... the person doesn't have to be rich at all it's the party they're in that does. So you could start slow, join a party and run for a low level position and eventually rise up in power, like Barack Obama did tbh.

Let me rephrase that then. The only way you could become a president is if you have some sort of money income, whether your party has money or you have money. And i believe Obama was already rich. And no democratic party or republican party is going to accept people just because they have good ideas, they select rich people, and they give them ideas to follow

If you aren't at least 20, you shouldn't devote your life to supporting one form of government.

Why?

How can you tell us that America isn't a democracy when you probably aren't old enough to vote? How can you determine the ups and downs of taxes, paychecks, and work hours when you aren't old enough to drive or to get a well-paying job and a promotion?

I have no opinion because I am not 16? I can't watch the news, listen to people like Brian Moore on TV, read books, or even listen to my teacher in history class?

VoteSocialist brings up a good point, there are many sources you could use to get a well informed decision. However we may not have the life experience we can still educate ourselves to the best of our ability and listen from all points of view and make our stand on what we believe.

However I still have to disagree with VoteSocialist on a lot of what he said on here, some of it does make sense. However I do think, no offense, that a lot of it is Socialist propaganda. Am I saying socialists are bad? No, but they still have and use propaganda like any other party, religion, or group.

Anyways, that's my opinion taking in the whole debate between votesocialist and the other dude debating him.

I think its a good country in general terms, but there is a lot of violence, the cradle of snuff, torture, and there is a lot of drugs, the number one in adicted people in the world, but the sistem of justice works correctly in general terms, its dificult for a politician of middle level make a enormeous fortune, not like other countries like Mexico, where governors, judges, etc are millionaires, in the USA only the president and his best friens can make this.

lol, sorry but I have to STRONGLY disagree there.

Actually, the president only makes 100,000 some dollars a year, which is no where close to millions.
