That's the duty free part. You guys execute missions while I'm at school

Then I get on when I get home, and update it. I don't post after everyone of your guys' posts.

Air Force is kicka*s, but I like special ops too.

Special Op's has soooo many job hazards. Remember Black Hawk Down...Remember Somalia...

Wait that case proves BOTH the Air Force and Special Ops are...dangerous.

On a day to day basis, Special Ops go through more danger than the Air Force.

Remember Black Hawk Down...Remember Somalia...

I remember... Such dangerous times..

Marines? They're units are deployed just about everywhere...so you have a pick, get blown up in an Iraqi Desert, Blown up in the Afghanistan-Pakistan Mountain Ranges, get murdered by a sushi chef in Japan, nuked in South Korea.....or just about...you get the picture...

Lesson: Don't join the army if you can.

Well, I am in the navy, or rather, I will be shipping out for basic Feb 4th of next year, and it is pretty awesome. You can have a regular nine to five job while going to any state (yes state) University you want in the area and they will pay for it fully. Not to mention housing allowances and the ability to become an officer through education...all nice things. Of course, depending on your job you may have to go on a ship but, that is only for 6 months out of an 18 month period. I for one picked a job that probably will never require me to go out on a ship so I can be with my family.

I respect those who choose to go to the front lines of battle and risk their lives. Although, I am a pacifist, and I would never kill anyone. Save for very specific, me or someone else situation or someone is threatening my family. And of course, the me or someone else situation applies to infantrymen, marines, or special forces on the front lines but, they have elected to be there....yeah pretty sure people new that but I thought the distinction was important. I would never put myself in the me or someone else position willingly.

Think ahead of time to the dangers you'll be getting in the army. Don't join the army unless your forced to.

Yeah, flying a plane at 800 mph is awesome when you crash.

Two years. And then regular call-ups every year till we're about fifty. So yeah...and there's a very very very strict law regarding NS. No one is allowed to not serve.

It's pretty open to corruption in Greece, who you know and all that. What makes it work is the fact most young Greek men actually want to. It's perceived as a quasi-tribal right of passage.

Assuming I graduate atage 21, I'll be 28 by the time my mandatory service is up. So thats what, 7 years?

That's not national service though. That's after you've volunteered and passed out. Also, as of next year, I am free to leave the RAF, if I so choose. Not that I want to, it's just nice to have a sense of freedom, as that somewhat lacks in pretty much most other aspects of military life.

you've got misses and chain guns

So do the bad guys, albeit in the form of primitive(ish) MANPADs.

and a squadron behind you.

The RAF is spread surprisingly thin. Rarely do we have the manpower to fly in anything more than a 4-ship whilst on operations. Remember that not every nation has the resources of you lucky Americans. Of course you have the support of the ground crew and some kind of AWACS, but at the end of the day, there's always room for pilot error.

Plus you've got an automatic targeting system so you can't really miss,

Ha, I wish. It entirely depends on what targeting system you use. It's only with the use of ASB3 equipment that you start to get really excellent accuracy, and even then, there's a 100ft CEP of probably error.

and who doesn't like going fast?!

Yea, I'll give you that one.
