FPS or MMORPG I heard some people like FPS games like COD5 or CounterStrike. And some people like MMORPG games like WoW. But what's your favorite? FPS or MMORPG?
Can I answer both? This is a horrible question, really. I'd make a comparison to apples and oranges, but that would be cliche and if people haven't gotten the point of it by now why bother trying...
Now if we're ignoring the question OF the topic, and focusing on the one IN the topic... Slightly less stupid question. Picking a favorite is still rather unfair since the genres have nothing in common other than being video games. In my never ending attempt to monkey wrench poorly thought out topics, my answer is Neocron. Make what you will of that.
I like FPS, mmorpg seem childish to me now because the graphics always have to look terrible so that you dont get super lag, like wow looks amazingly cartoony!
Yes, I will say that some MMOs are very graphic lagging. But at least there fun. Sometimes. But me? I like FPS. Most of them out there have fantastic quality, awesome replayability, and are just fun. I mean, some RPGs can be linear. So what if you choose a differnt type, still doing the same thing. FPS bring that slight joy of killing people, and having millions of maps to do it on. My favorite FPS, Combat Arms. My least favorite MMORPG, Runescape (BIG SUPRISE *whaaaaa from crowd* /sarcasm)
I agree with the horrible runescape thing, but remember, these games are made by amateurs who have no idea what really makes a game. This is why just about all of those MMOs are cliche and bland to say the least.
Combat Arms requires a heavy connection with luck to make sure the server you're on is working correctly. People with local wireless or dialup cannot play them at all, and there is the excuse of lagging everytime something bad goes wrong.
It's funny: I absolutely love regular RPGs, but I've never gotten into MMORPGs. I think I just hate the idea of people thinking they're amazing for being a higher level than me, when MMOs don't actually require skill, just time invested. I'll keep my RPGs single player, thank you very much.
So, to get to the point, I'd take an FPS over an MMO. I personally think it's a lot more satisfying when you do well in an FPS, because it takes more than a comfortable chair and hours of time to do well.
