I am fed up with this notion that Obama is a socialist. All are people saying to me is "Hey Bob, you're a socialist so you must love Obamunism!".
First I will give a simple definition of socialist economics:
socialism denotes an economic system of state ownership and/or worker ownership of the means of production and distribution
How is Obama a socialist if he is instead taking tax dollars away from the middle class and giving them away to the CEOs that caused the economic crisis we face today? That's almost the exact opposite of socialism; Obama is bailing out the capitalist system, not scrapping it! Bailing out Banks, large companies, and expanding health care is simply not socialism if it's not state owned or collectively owned by the working class. A true socialist would fire the CEOs that caused the problem in the first place and do one of two things: Let worker's unions take over the companies while the workers have a democratic say in which way the company goes (syndicalism/libertarian socialism), OR simply just have the federal government control the company and the wages (authoritarian socialism). Now yes, the government does control 60% of GM and they have fired plenty of people, but that is only because all of that bail out money didn't work and GM filed for bankrupcy anyway. And still, it's 60% of only one car company....

That and he wants everybody to have the same type of coverage as he does, or any political figure, since he mentioned in the speech that it would be illegal for employers to drop peoples health care plan if they were sick, or if they had not explained a pre-existing disease or illness.
Not the same kind, it's just illegal for the different private companies to drop someone. The people will still have a "choice" in the matter.

If you actually read and thought about what he's doing, he's making the healthcare reform a CHOICE for the people. You don't have to have his healthcare if you don't want it. So thanks for that...
Also, if there is going to be a public option, it will only be 5% of the entire health care industry...and that's for people who can't afford anything.

this topic has been disgused time ´un time again. it actually involves a lot of other topics, that has been disgussed for the past- i dont know - 60-70 years.
the american people are, unlike the europeans, not a worldly people(by the way, im sorry if i get hurting, im generalising right now you see) it means that they have enough in themselfes. that means that most americans are frightened of change, and we all know that obama is change. also the american citizen have developed a fear of communism over the past 100 years. the soviet union have been a threat to america, peaking with the cuba crisis, and china has been a threat(and by many is still concidered).
the republicans have relished in it, maybe even enforced it.
Obama = socialist
socialism = communism
communism = evil

in denmark, our most rightwinged government is ruling (ironicly the party is called Venstre or "Left" in english)
we have a 100% sociallised healthcareplan... and we toptax is 60%... so true what you know as "socialdemocracy" is in our eyes "superduperübercluckadoodledoo capitalism" or your republicans are "superduperübercluckadoodledoopower capitalism"... think about it

He's not forcing it upon anyone; also, we're talking about socialism, not communism.

Really, things like that are what makes political parties so pointless. The leaders spend more time figuring out stupid acronyms for news channels than they do working out a health care plan.
