The level of contests in the forums is rising rapidly, but it can take days, maybe weeks, to notify a mod and ask for a merit prize, then it can take a few more weeks just to receive that prize. But that shouldn't be the way contests should be.

I think that there should be a seperate branch in the AG staff devoted completely to contest moderation, since we don't get very much of it.

Contest mods CAN:
-Only moderate threads that they or other contest mods create.
-Award merit prizes to winners of contests created by contest mods.
-Only create contests that are worth the prize and actually take skill to win.
-Type in a different color than green or blue or standard black.
-Create contests in any section they like.

Contest Mods CANNOT:
-Ban People.
-Stick Threads.
-Abuse their power.
-Moderate in threads not made by other contest mods.

Just a little idea I came up with. I'm sure it's already been suggested, but I didn't really look. What do you guys think?

And feel free to alter any of the things I said if they don't seem right. Like I say, it's merely a thought.

Isn't it good enough just to win?

You will eventually get your merit, just have patience.

For this idea, not a good idea, we don't need different mod classes some mods having more power then others.
Just wait. You will get them.

I told Carlie about it. I don't know if she's going to accept it, but it's worth a try...

Honestly, you don't just send all your suggestions to Carlie, this is why this is here. She checks here too.

If we already have admins, why not? Admins can do many things mods cannot do...

But she likes to have links to threads. This is something I've found out over the time that I've been here.

Having these contest mods JUST for contests is a little lame. One designated "contest mod" can probably deal with all the contests together anyway. So basically if there were these contest mods, one can deal with everything.

And plus, people whine when a mod is chosen and they weren't. I don't think the admins like the burden of having so many people complaining that they didn't get their moderator status.

I don't think this is a good idea. There are too many contests as there is right now and having contest mods will increase the amount. Then you'd have a bunch of people created these ridiculous contests.

Well what users have to understand is that they weren't chosen
1. Because they are not active enough in the community
2.Because they are known to be a bit spammy

And i agree plokkey. One contest mod would do just fine. They're aren't even that many merit prize contests.

All in all this is a gggggggreat idea.

I was thinking maybe two or three, but no more. Because if there was only one, they would be overburdened by that responsibility. If they had help, it would be a lot different...

Well, too bad for the people who didn't get chosen then. But that also should not be a factor of creating contest mods.

There are too many contests as there is right now and having contest mods will increase the amount.

But that can be a good thing! More forum activity, for one; and it will encourage more people to make well-thought out, intelligent posts. And you're telling me that this is a bad thing?

It would solve the problem, but don't see it happening. Who would be the new mods?

That is for the admins to decide, not the "averages". :P

ok i am just going to say that the users being mad about not being chosen is stupid. It should not be a problem at all. I hasn't been one in the past so i think it shouldn't be one now. Just because users get jealous that they don't get picked doesn't mean we should exclude this idea.

No, no, no.

You could easily be extremely active and not spammy at all, and still not be mod material.

They do. The moderators.

Perslos is right.

If we already have admins, why not? Admins can do many things mods cannot do...

Because admins work in the actual office and have their own specific jobs. Mods are complete strangers that can't be trusted with the website and they don't need to me admins. I have no idea why I jsut said that >.<

But she likes to have links to threads. This is something I've found out over the time that I've been here.

Really....? I don't think you'd want to send her a link to a suggestion that half the people said no too.

Not really. All they do is give out contest merits. And that only happens once a week or longer per contest. Only merit contests I can think of right now are...

ASC (art skills competition)
Short Story Contest
Poetry Contest
Make a Movie contest...

can't think of anything else.

They do. The moderators.

But the moderators have other responsibilities than contests. Which gives me an idea...

The Animation contest.

And I think the Pokemon and Fakemon ones do? I think someone mentioned those stopped giving them out though,

But, Uhh, even so, it's not too many contests for the mods we have now to take care of, and even if this did happen, that would have to be done (one mod). They just can't give someone have mod powers without having to code or whatever.
