The level of contests in the forums is rising rapidly, but it can take days, maybe weeks, to notify a mod and ask for a merit prize, then it can take a few more weeks just to receive that prize. But that shouldn't be the way contests should be.
I think that there should be a seperate branch in the AG staff devoted completely to contest moderation, since we don't get very much of it.
Contest mods CAN: -Only moderate threads that they or other contest mods create. -Award merit prizes to winners of contests created by contest mods. -Only create contests that are worth the prize and actually take skill to win. -Type in a different color than green or blue or standard black. -Create contests in any section they like.
Contest Mods CANNOT: -Ban People. -Stick Threads. -Abuse their power. -Moderate in threads not made by other contest mods.
Just a little idea I came up with. I'm sure it's already been suggested, but I didn't really look. What do you guys think?
And feel free to alter any of the things I said if they don't seem right. Like I say, it's merely a thought.

But that can be a good thing! More forum activity, for one; and it will encourage more people to make well-thought out, intelligent posts. And you're telling me that this is a bad thing?
You didn't quote the rest of what I said. Have you've seen some of the contests that people have made? Some are a bid not merit-worthy and the mods would be annoyed.

Contest mods will only create merit-worthy contests. They won't create stupid ones like "Who can make up the funniest word"; they'll actually make contests that require skill and intelligence to win.
That's just going too far.......
AG had a T-Shirts section at one point. And they have a whole section just for Sonny. Why not for contests?

Let's just focus more on the contest mods.
If we were struggling that much, we would just get a new mod. If no one has been made a new mod yet then we obviously aren't that badly in need of one.

Well good idea...and since the mods have pretty much a lot of stuff on their hands...it's hard to run contests. I know some people who have not received their merits for winning the poetry contest....
