I love The Beatles they have made so many of the greatest songs and are just superbly great... I'm not sure whether I prefered the sugar sweet "I wanna hold your hand" kinda songs or the later more psychedelic stuff. I think Revolver is my favouurite song at the moment with Sgt. Peppers a close second.
They're overrated.
I find they are a bit Wonderwall.... over-rated by the wrong peole and sometimes under-rated by the right people.
All of their songs sound alike to me. That's why I think they're overrated, not because of what others say.

some of their osngs are simialr especially in different periods but there is enough variety from Yesterday to Helter Skelter to Help etc. Like Pablo Picasso had a BLue period and a Rose period and a Cubist period all very differnt but with simialr themes within them.
They may not have been the best band, or the most talented. But they led into the British Invasion, they shaped the music for the next 30 years! Their impact is still seen today by music artists around the world. Their music variety was so vast, after 5 years of listening to them, I still haven't heard all their songs. You may not like them, you may think they're over rated, but in reality they are the most known band in history, and they have songs that will forever effect the music world, no the entire world! Say what you want, they're pinkies are worth more than any of us will ever be.

overated to the extreme is all i can say, people call them the "greatest band of all time" and to be quite honest they werent actually that good
For those of you who think these things, I have a few words. Have you listened to all of their albums? First of all, from their beginnings with songs like "Love me do" to songs like "Sgt. Peppers Lonely HEarts club band" or "Strawberry fields", or "Blue Jay Way", or anything on Abbey road or the White album, they have the most varied sound of just about any band ever.
You have to consider the music of the time to understand the innovation that was the Beatles. They started off like every other sixties band with "I wanna hold your hand" and all of those doo wap type songs, but, totally broke the mold with "I am the walrus". If you think they sound the same, listen to some of the songs I've suggested in succession, then come back and tell me their music all sounded the same.
Please, before you cast aspersions upon The Beatles, do research on the music of time, listen to their music chronologically, compare it with the music that was coming out by other people in the early, mid, and late sixties and then make your decision.
I know many people who don't care for The Beatles music much but, they all give respect because of The Beatles innate ability to reach into the future and pull musical techniques and sounds that are still being used today, and still readily influencing just about all pop music that comes out today.
i never said i thought thier songs sounded alike merely that i didnt think they were that good.

im not disrespecting them, i just think they are way to over-rated , they sound ok but thats about it- they were ok-not the greatest band of all time and there is a bigg difference between how good they sounded and influence, bands that had a huge influence (black sabbath) can still sound pretty poor.
i dont see how somebody could listen to the beatles and come to the conclusion they were the greatest band of all time, they were succesful and influential but to be quite honest thier songs werent brilliant it would require relativly little technical skill to play any of thier songs.

I have nothing to post here. Not everyone likes the Beatles you know.

I think the Beatles are great. I have a a lot of favorite songs by them, "And Your Bird Can Sing", Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", and "She Loves You" are just a few songs that I like.
