I had noticed a few people here have some of the newer comic book movies as their favorite movies, and it made me wonder if anyone here was a fan of comics as well; so I decided to make a thread about them. Is anyone else here a fan of the printed pages, if you are share with us. Who is your favorite character, and what do you like so much about them? Are a fan of Marvel or DC, or do you prefer the more independent publishers? Whats your take on the more recent comic book movies? Have you read The Watchmen? (These are just random example questions of course, you can reply with whatever strikes your fancy)
So, by the hammer of Thor, I declare this thread: open for discussion!
Comic books are really not popular these days. Where I live, people who like comic book stuff have little or no respect. I'm sure you'll find someone here who likes comic books, but good luck.
I like comic books with actual comics in them rather than those old ones with super hero stories in them. No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to find those comics funny...
I like reading comic books sometimes. I go to Pennsylvania at least once a year and in one city I've been in, there's a comic book store and I've bought a few. That was a couple years ago though.
i'm starting to like comic books. I have read Watchmen and finally saw it yesterday and it was AMAZING!
anyway, apart from watchmen the only thing DC i like is batman, but who doesnt like batman?
my favorite of all time is DEADPOOL which sucks cuz they screwed him up so much in the wolverine movie. oh well hes gonna get his own movie in a couple years.
Caucheka: Glad to see another comic fan here, and Watchmen really is fantastic (and yeah the movie was amazing). But yeah, who doesn't like Batman, he's probably the most popular superhero. And I know what you mean about Deadpool, I love him (especially the Joe Kelly run) but he was screwed to hell in the movie. What other titles do you read?
Man I freaking love comic books. Was raised on them. There are a lot of interesting things going on in comics right now. Check out all the stuff having to do with "The Blackest Night" Green Lantern stuff, way cool. Anyone remember the amalgam universe in the nineties? DC and Marvel smashed together a bunch of characters...also way cool. Batman and wolverine crossed, I mean come on.
pickleshack: I have a vague recollection of it, but I definitely agree with you that The Blackest Night event needs to be checked out. I personally can't wait for thme to release the rest of the lantern rings for a complete set (did you get the black ring they rleeased with the first issue?)
I used to be hardcore into Batman and Spider-Man comic books, and I still give them the odd read now and then, but in recent years they've just gotten a little bit too convoluted for me.
In the case of comic strip collections, Hagar the Horrible trumps all!
I don't care for action comics, but love newspaper comics such as: "Beetle Bailey", "Pearls Before Swine", "Peanuts", "Foxtrot, "Curtis", and "Calvin and Hobbes" (i dont with it appears in newspapers, but I love the comics from the books published).
