Would it be at all possible to let the top 20 people on AG send in their own pictures for their Armatars? I think, since they worked so hard to get there, they should be rewarded.
They way I think the pictures would be allowed is that if you are in the top 20, or 10 whichever you may choose, you may send in a picture to a moderator/ admin and they would approve the picture. If they did not think of it as appropriate, they would deny it.
then that would lead to spamming to get to the top 20 if people really cared about their pics being on the sight... also it would be to revealing. but im not an admin of AG so... still possible
The only reason we use the already made armatars is because if we use our own the forum would be full. The size of each armatar is gonna be huge and it's gonna be confusing to.
Something just hit me. If it is only the top 20, then what would happen if a guy/gal was top 20 and then was top 21, hypothetically? Would he/she keep the picture, or will it disappear, leaving the member barren?
I like equality, so my opinion is no it's not a good idea, it would make all the users want AP to get in the top 20 (that means more spam), many would complain that having this feature is unjust and last the site would be odd, imagine some persons having as an armatar a photo and some having a drawing the site would look amateurish.
Goumas nails it on the head, really. We've stood by the armatar system because despite the rankings, it still carries a sense of egalitarianism with it.
Also the top 20 ranks are labile, as Freakenstein explains, so it'd be a nightmare to handle.
And, just in case you're not convinced, I can think of a way to easily abuse my power so that nobody would know (well, nobody except Carlie and the other mods, lolol, then I'd be in for it!) But either way, I'm just highlighting that it'd be tempting for many.
