I like my music with every type of metal there is. Fucking Metallica is my favorite, after that comes Disturbed and System of a Down, but my friend is dragging me towards Motorhead as well.
What i dont understand is how people enjoy sh*t like Dr. Dre and the Whigger Eminem. Rap promotes drugs, prostituition, disrespect, and all that jazz. It's also horrible music and i cant understand what the hell they mean in their lyrics. At least in metal you dont have to understand the words cuz it's all about the music, not some guy who can't even sing.
I think metal is too angry. rap is usually very relaxed and laid back. even the rap songs that have the angriest lyrics, the rappers still sound carefree and cool.
screamos are in the category of metal so i'm going with rap.
This is the dumbest thing I have read in this thread, Screamo has nothing to do with metal. Screamo is more inline with punk hardcore and emo music. There are metal bands that scream, but that isn't screamo.
I think rap and metal are equally good. Some of my favorite bands are metal, and some are rap. It really depends on my mood. When I'm having a bad or boring day, I'll listen to metal. If I'm in a good or hyper mood, I'll listen to rap. Some people are saying that you don't need any talent to rap, while for metal you do. People that play in metal bands do need alot of training and talent, yes, but rapping isn't easy either. Not anybody can do it. Have any of you actually heard a fast rap song? Also, rap isn't always about drugs and girls. There are alot of songs that actually have meaning to them. Example: Mockingbird by Eminem. As for metal, some of you say that metal sucks because its just people screaming about violence. Again, not all songs are like that. Metallica has some good songs with a message. So does (and I know some of you might not consider this metal) System of a Down. They are my favorite band. They have alot of songs that are about the issues in our society. Conclusion: actually listen to more than one or two popular bands from a type of music before judging it and saying that it all sucks. Because every band in that type of music is different and they shouldn't all be lumped together and because a few of the bands in that group is bad, labeled as a bad band.
Rap is basically just about gangs and crimes, while metal is more spread out in its subjects. It ranges from BDSM to People being eaten to super wars.
Also, rap is just someone who is just talking, or in the rar instances when they do have a rhythm for their singing, they edit their voice because they can't sing for crap. Metal is pure music and very enjoyable because it has actual MUSIC in it.

No, not necessarily, GAGA made a strong point, in ever Metallica song there is a message. The lyrics in Metal are quite deep actually. and those awesome solos! Metal has some of the most extraordinary guitar riffs and solos than in any other genre!
I hate rap. All it is is people rhyming very fast. What a skill...
