Well, I guess the forums aren't so bad after all if they already thought up of different features, I didn't really know that they had to cancel them out to make the server faster.
Usually users that have posted a couple minutes ago or just now are on the forums, so you can use that as a sort of guideline.
There was an online user list about 6-8 months ago or so. It checked the last 5 minutes of the forums to see who was on. Whenever someone posted in the forums, their name would go up for 5 minutes. Of course, it caused major lag because of how often it had to be updated.
So they took it out, as opposed to just getting a faster server -.-
well they could have the a thing under the user name where it says thy are on or off...when it says online they are on and if theres no online next to the avatar then they are off..

I agree, there should be like a red button next to the name if they are off and a green one when they are on.

Of course, it caused major lag because of how often it had to be updated.
I thought the green active button next to user names was what caused the lag- One it was removed, everything was fine. I mean, we still had those annoying lag periods and weird bugs.
I'd also like to say that even though the list of active users was great for finding new people to talk to that were online at the same time as you, not too many people used it. I remember using it... Once. And the user I chatted never returned to AG again. Also, imagine that while the AG community is growing this list would become longer and longer until it would become impractical to use.
They had that, but it was removed due to lag, along with the online user list.
Look at the red button next to every user name in on Profiles. That is what is left, an icon that doesn't work. It's hard to believe that little thing caused so much trouble, but you have no idea...
I think this feature will come back after the optimization, but who knows when they will finish with that?
A year ago mods were saying it would come back after site optimization, but it hasn't happened, and I think it is best not to get hopes up too high anymore.
