Since you all want to talk about/shoot down communism, try and keep it all in one thread.

This one.

Having umpteen threads about the same basic idea is pointless/getting fairly annoying.

Thus, everyone shall be equal.

Have fun.

Communism has many benefits, but it never seems to work.

Because then it would not be fair and equal. If it is all going to stay strong, then let it. If it is going to die, let it.

"It" being the current Communism discussions. Not the thread, mind you.

Communism WOULD work, but it does have quite a few flaws in the simple design of its' system. 'Cept the flaws are catastrophic.

It takes perfect, non-lazy people to work. People who are not control freaks, or are greedy.

Capitalism feeds off of communism's flaws, by turning its' problems into benefits. It turns greed into power, and power into revolution. If revolution happens often enough, no one will stay in power long enough to KEEP themselves in power.

Revolution means the revolving of power in the above statement.

Because communism isn't worth stickying.

In the immortal words of FloydTC, "communism is bad".

Devoidless! I haven't actually ever seen you active before. Did you go on hiatus or something?
Anyway...communism...
Definition for those who are confuzzled.
THE DEFINITION OF COMMUNISM(according to Wikipedia)

Communism (from Latin: communis = "common&quot is a family of economic and political ideas and social movements related to the establishment of an egalitarian, classless and stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general, as well as the name given to such a society.[1][2][3] The term "Communism", when spelled with a capital letter C, refers to any government or political party which explicitly identifies itself as Communist, even if that party or government is committed to pro-capitalist policies like the modern Chinese Communist Party.

Alright. Now my personal opinion, pros and cons.
PROS
-Egalitarian sounds good to me. Fair, unbiased government, yes? Yes!
CONS
-Too much power to all, no? No!
I know, I know, my pros and cons are currently pitiful. But hey! I'm not really up for a debate right now, but I also wanted to get out of Forum Games for a sec.
P.S.- Devoidless...fairness ftw! *random headbang*

Moat, everyone has equal power in Communism.

PROS imo:

Perfect in theory

CONS:

Only works in small groups like the hippie communes.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. If everyone has equal power, (I said too much power to all) then the decisions could be flawed.

But it's democracy in its purest form, essentially - which, according to Winston Churchill, is 'the worst form of government, except for all the other ones.' :P

Democracy and republic are the only consistently successful types of government, really.

Communism is more or less an economic theory though.

One that over time becomes increasingly suppressed.

@thisisnotanalt, You forget quite a few types of government. For example, monarchy worked in England, France, Spain, etc. for hundreds of years. Oligarchy, aka power to the few, worked in Sparta for just as long. Communism worked in the Incan Empire, again for hundreds of years. So really, that was an ignorant statement.

Finally, no excuse for so many Commie threads anymore

-Egalitarian sounds good to me. Fair, unbiased government, yes? Yes!

The government issues food and same pay to everyone and decides how much food/pay to give.

An economic system in which capital is owned by government. Contrasts with capitalism.

There's a nice definition of communism. Fair and equal say for everyone? I think not.

I know, my points suck at the moment too but I'm ready for a debate as well

Communism doesn't really work at all, you could say Stalin was just a random socialist dictator, but the man before him wanted eventual Marxism. Communism says the state will wither away, instead the opposite happened in Russia. In addition, Lenin lead his revolution whislt Russia was still in a semi-feudal state.

Despite the inherent abstractions of Fascist ideology, I would argue Stalinism is closer to it than anything on the left of the political spectrum.
