The Dalai lama just visited Vancouver for a Peace Summit. he gathered all the "leaders" of schools in British Columbia and allowed them to come and see him for free. He then preached Buddhist doctrine to them in a most wonderful way. Informing them that the only way to end war is for people to find "inner peace"

I think the Dalai Lama is a false idol. He preaches, but he doesn't practice.

He won the Nobel Peace Prize after he took money from the CIA in the cold war to fund crusades to liberate Tibet?

He uses air rifles to shoot hawks that eat the birds he feeds on his grounds in India?

He campaigns for religious tolerance but has condemned rival Buddhist Sect Dorje Shugden?

He has admitted to having sexual dreams about women.

He seems a bit hypocritical. Although I do agree with his ideals.

well you have to consider that the dalai lama is the "incarnation" of Buddha so you should expect people to follow him.

People should follow what he says. You are right. But he says you must tolerate all religions. He also says this sect of his religion is evil. And if he knows people will follow him blindly, he should be careful about what he says.

I don't consider it dead if it's been posted in the last 24 hours

Plus, I hadn't responded to Goumas' post

I'm in the "all clrea" for bumping it =P

I consider threads not on the first page to be dead, mostly because I hate flipping through them. xp

But on topic: If the dalai is a corrupt hypocrite, then why do many people still respect him and his Tibetan monks?

Can't answer that.

I respect Hitler. I think he was evil, but I respect him.

Weird. I think that Hitler was admiral for rising from nothing to Füher. But I still dislike his policies.

I guess it is the same thing with dalai.

I think the Dalai Lama is a false idol. He preaches, but he doesn't practice.

He can't for heavens sake he was excommunicated from his own country.

He won the Nobel Peace Prize after he took money from the CIA in the cold war to fund crusades to liberate Tibet?

Yeah. He tried it peacefully obviously.

He uses air rifles to shoot hawks that eat the birds he feeds on his grounds in India?

What is your point? The Dalai Lama at my last check wasn't vegan. That hawk would have killed those birds. If he shot the hawk then the hawk died instead. So what is the difference?

He has admitted to having sexual dreams about women.

That is the subconcious brain. A man thinks about sex every seven seconds anyways.

Honestly I find this thread to be of utter stupidity. The tibetans are getting screwed over by the chinese who are enforcing their ways on the tibetan people. So you instead complain about their leader? How about you complain about how unfairly the tibetans are being treated.

It sounds like you don't understand. These actions violate Buddhist teachings! They are either against his religion or specifically forbidden for a Dalai Lama!

How about you complain about how unfairly the tibetans are being treated.

Why would I?

It's better than what they HAD.

That is the subconcious brain. A man thinks about sex every seven seconds anyways.

This is not a man, this is a Dalai Lama

OMG. Why don't you understand?!?!

He can't for heavens sake he was excommunicated from his own country.

He can't practice his religion properly? He can't have religious tolerance when he tells others they should?

Yeah. He tried it peacefully obviously.

This is violent and religiously intolerant. Both against his ideals.

Honestly I find this thread to be of utter stupidity

The third post in 2 days calling me stupid.

However I didn't disagree with the other 2.

You always respect the persons you admire and who represent your ideals.
Many persons still respect and admire Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and many others who should not be respected/admired.
Almost everybody is respected by a group of persons.

Yes. Hitler was very admirable.

Please do explain how someone so evil can be admired?

In any way please do so.

I find his ability to manipulate, inspire, and incite fear admirable

These aren't necessarily good qualities, but they aren't necessarily bad qualities either. How he used them was bad.

I admire his qualities not his actions.

Personally I find both Himmler and Joseph Goebells a bigger force in the nazi party. Hitler had a massive part but those two were pretty evil in their own way.

Hitler really just blamed nearly everything on the jews and he also used the excuse of the versailles treaty to start taking over austria.

He wasn't all that admirable. I find stalin a much more worthy person of attention really. He was just as bad really or maybe worse, nobody thinks of him as evil really but he was.

I never said I found Hitler any more admirable than any of those people.

I just made my point that you can admire/respect someone whose actions you hate.
