I like all type of rock, but mainly in the alternative, grunge, post-grunge rock and classic rock. I honestly don't like the name "alternative". The name is just too misleading to me, because it really isn't that alternative. To me I refer to alternative as just plan rock.
I like a little of bit of almost everything. Rock is my favourite genre, but I do also like select songs of country, classical, jazz, country, metal, and rap genres.
Considering the majority of the music I like was written between the 60s and the 70s, it's hard to say. So if oldies is a favorite type of music then oldies is my answer. I don't see comparing Pink Floyd with Bill Withers, or Curtis Mayfield with the Who, because these are obviously a different types of music, although you may find all of these groups on the same radio station, so I don't know if my answer is going to count.
I'm actually with sickcroon. I prefer classic rock / oldies. I like the pop, r&b, rock, blues, and jazz from the 60s-70s. I also like 80s rock/metal and some of the 80s pop like Elton John, Genesis/Phil Collins, etc. I think the underlying genre I prefer would be rock, but from the 60s-80s.
Lots of music I like.. I listen a lot to Oldies/Sixties, Rock in general, World Music, Punk, specially Alternative/Ska Punk, Metal (mainly Melodic Power and Symphonic Metal, a bit of Heavy and Folk Metal and occasionally Death Metal)..I also like Classic music, Reggae, Jazz, Blues, though I don't listen to that often.
